PC build help

So, I’m currently playing WoW on a laptop. It’s a Dell Precision M4600, I’m pretty sure. I’m well aware of laptops not being the best for gaming, but I’m running an Intel i7 third gen with an NVIDIA Quadro 2000M graphics chip. It’s on DirectX 11 and runs Windows 7.

My ping is usually between 20-40, but I have horrible instances of lag when I mount up and in raids it’ll drop to 1-10fps here and there. All of my graphics settings are as low as they can be, it’s on Legacy settings, and I can deal with that, but I would have thought that I should at least be able to run WoW better than this. Back in Panda Land, my old Compaq CQ57 ran WoW as well as this Dell does now and the Compaq was an absolute trash can. I don’t have these issues with any other game that I play…and so, I’m probably gonna be looking at building a desktop here soon.

Can anyone either help me run WoW better with my laptop like the other games that I play run (over 60fps, no lag) or help me build a desktop that will work with a budget of around 700-800 dollars?

I don’t think you’re going to get much more out of this machine. It is 8 years old, The Quadro has only 2gb of GDDR3 and the CPU speed is pretty low which is going to hold you back no matter what.

Does your budget include a monitor?

This would run wow very well.

If you live near a Micro Center purchasing both of these at the same time makes the motherboard $24.99.

This is a great build. If a monitor is part of the budget there are a couple areas it could be cheaper to accommodate but it’s a solid recommendation. Also, OP, this is a micro-ATX size build so if you wanted an ATX size you can swap the board and case for a similar price.

If only more people did lol. I am lucky I do since they have amazing deals like that.

I live between MC and the Fry’s where the game was originally released. #blessed
