Hello everyone, I’m building a PC to run WoW on 4K at around 60FPS and World of Warcraft will be the only game I play, the pc is built around playing WoW.
Will this build be enough, is too overkill or I need something a little stronger?
-AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
-ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4 ATX AM4
-G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
-Crucial MX500 1 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
-EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB KO GAMING Video Card
-SeaSonic FOCUS Plus Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
To get into more details, should I pick Ryzen or Intel cpu for 4K WoW?
Also, do I really need a really expensive GPU as many said World of Warcraft is more CPU driven than GPU? I picked the RTX2060 as with ray tracing and Shadowlands, I heard only RTX cards support that.
My budget is around $1500 CND and I already got a Windows 10 license/keyboard/mouse/4K TV. I’m looking for the best quality/cost build I can get but it doesn’t have to cost $1500 lol, I’m just open to spending that much if I need to, to run WoW on a steady 60 FPS on 4K.
Thank you and have a great day!

If you can wait, wait. The 3000 series and big Navi which has RTRT, are coming soon.
Otherwise, for point of reference, my 5700 XT (faster than a 2060 Super) can do upscaled 4k at 60fps at a 7 pretty well but even then it drops sometimes.
I’d get at least a 2060 Super, but know that the 3000 series will likely make the 2000 series obsolete pretty quickly regarding RTRT as they are supposedly packing 2x the RTRT power.
3600 is plenty and although the i5-10600k or better night give slightly better performance, it’s WAAY more expensive.
And yes, WoW can most certainly take advantage of GPU power when it’s allowed to. Pretty much all of your solo oriented gameplay will be GPU limited.

Hi Salhezra, your void elf looks really epic!
Oh my, I wasn’t even aware Nvidia were releasing a 3000 series in 2020. lol I wish I could wait but I don’t have a very good computer to play WoW right now and I want to play the game in 4K which is impossible with my current horrible pc from 2010 so I grrr, I wish I could wait for the 3000 series as it really seems amazing but sadly, I can’t! lol
Your points are all pretty valid, I might have the budget for a 2070 or 2070 Super, I will see what I decide to buy.
I see, I guess I will compare price vs performance and see the best I can achieve for $1500 CND, at least now I narrowed the parts quite a bit so it will be much easier to build the pc.
Would you say the GPU or the CPU is more important for FPS in 4K on WoW? Because the way I see it, I could afford either a 2070 Super or a stronger CPU than the 3600 but probably not both.
Thank you very much for your reply, it’s very appreciated!

Thanks for the compliment!
4k is going to be a more GPU.
That said, you still need a fast cpu either way, and the 3600 is plenty.
In some scenarios regardless of GPU, you will get done fps drops, but overall a strong GPU will give you a better overall experience.

All right, I will go on pcpartpicker and see what I can get for $1500 CND.
Thanks again, now, for those additional infos and have a great night!
