Basically anything you want in the game can be obtained with real money. Leveling, gear, raid progression. Mythic raid progression is probably the only thing you can get by buying WoW tokens and turning them into gold. For everyone else, you’re at a disadvantage if you don’t use real money to by tokens and pay for carries. That is the same model that pay to win games use to entice you to spend real money for in game power. Blizzard has just found a way around explicitly trading IRL money for in game power while still profiting from the process. As more and more people leave the game, that problem will only get worse.

So every MMO is P2W then with your post. Good to know. And yep, that includes FFXIV too.

The only difference between now, and 2004->2015 is the token.
before the token, people were buying gold from 3rd party sites.

I agree with what lots of others have said…its pay for convenience and skill will always be based on your own individual skill. I dont think if you are bad you could parse high on WoW Logs and be part of a good guild. I mean unless youre passing Saudi Prince money to everyone, which at that point all of life is pay to win if you wanna see it that way.
