Pay to Play = Hooray!

Literally the same practice as early access. A cancer of the gaming industry. People are dumb enough to pay for something that isn’t finished or out. Yikes yikes yikes

Being unsubbed is fine - I’m not subbed now because I don’t have any interest in retail, but I’ll sub again the moment Classic comes out.

I think the point the OP is making is that the freemium concept simply doesn’t work - and I agree 100%. Freemium has already claimed countless victims. It basically ensures that a MMO is short-lived, due to a complete and utter disregard for balance brought on by the pay-to-win concept.

Having a subscription allows a MMO to maintain its integrity far more easily.

Even though I don’t expect to get in the Beta I re-subbed and opt’d in for the gamble.

There never was much hope… Just a fools hope, as I have been told.

I received a beta invite for BfA while not being subbed for over a year, so…

What about people like me that hate retail therefore are unsubbed but will sub for classic. Don’t worry I wont comment on retail that trash can of a game is all yours. But classic, well now we are talking pizza bites!

Except your mantra completely contradicts the very existence of WoW Classic.

and there is NO chance for you to be in classic beta

Way to be super petty bro

I totally agree that Subscription is better than MTX. Despite people’s complaints none of the WoW transactions are “micro”.

I do continue to disagree that unsubbed posters are the reason for toxicity though.

The people who quit BFA are the “Smart ones”

If a sub guaranteed beta id consider it, but not for a “chance” at it

Nah, it’s not, at all. They aren’t two different things. They are both WoW and under the umbrella of Blizzard MMOs. So it’s like saying your kid can go to kindergarten and grade school and middle school and high school for free because you pay for education in your taxes.

Get it now or do you need a clearer explanation?

Loot Box beta invites people, get used to it.

I think you need to read your explanation. I agree that getting Elementary School “for free” because you pay for education is analogous to getting Classic for free because you pay for Retail. That was MY point.

Retail and Classic are both paid for via the same payment, just as Middle School and High School are. You pay for all of them, and claiming divisions within the payment is both irrelevant and nonsensical.

So are you just trolling? Because everything I said makes complete sense.

only a fool would sub at a chance to get in to a small closed beta that you wont even get in.

Agreed, it was all coherent. But the claim that Classic is technically free is wrong, in both an objective philisophical sense and as a practical reality.

People make the same mistake with “buy one get one free” tricks. You aren’t getting anything for free, you’re getting each for half price. Our valuation misjudges the benefit, even while our calculation is accurate.

A simple human mental blind spot, frequently exploited.

I understand what you’re saying, but I guess in that vein people subbing to Classic would say their $15 is going toward Classic because they don’t play retail and vice verse.

When in reality there is a cost split associated with it that Blizzard won’t reveal but tied to their operating costs for each product. So I guess you’re right in that splitting it on our end is nonsensical. Much like when I said under education, it would be like saying I am paying $10 for high school, $5 for middle school, and so on. Not really needed to split out. I just meant everything is under the umbrella of WoW, both classic and retail, but I can also see how your analogy works too, because it all falls under the umbrella of “taxes.”

I have zero desire to play beta. But Im super excited for classic.
