Pay to drop character to 48

Just make more money Blizz. Pay to drop to level 48 or 1. I’ve got races toon’s I’m attached to - I don’t have a problem leveling, and I know it’s a weird request - don’t even know if there’s enough others that would like to do it, but getting to 50 on my main 4 toons before realizing you can’t do lower stuff any more (know I wasn’t the only one on that!!) I also don’t want to lose the achievements.

Bad idea?

I’ve got a Panda hunter I started with in MoP took her through Legion until Suramar and redid Legion on a DH. Started another human Hunter that I just boosted with the freebie BFA gave with expac.

I can’t take the human backwards because of how Chromie works, leveling is too quick and easy as it is, just want to take human hunter back cuz I like her and don’t want to lose her progression. Don’t want to race change first character I ever made.

Make sense or is this barking up wrong tree? I mean Blizz would make money. I don’t want the same gear…idk???

Turn off exp before hitting level 50 that’s option. You can not go back on characters that are pass 49 now, but for future characters that is an option.

O know, that’s the point. I can’t be the only one that didn’t know this - I’d pay 25.00 to drop to level 48.

Why can’t they do that? is the question.

oh yeah. the way they changed it from being ABLE to get into the next expansion at level 0 (100, 110) to being FORCED into the new expansion at level 50…lmao.
Had I known they were pulling that crap Id have left all my characters at one level below max when BFA ended.

About the only way around it is party sync…but you have to use a second account to do it.

My guess? It would not be a service used frequently enough to warrant it.

Really? Have you tried it in Wrath where everything is spread out across the frozen plains? Without a leveling guide?

You know what’s really awesome about this situation?

You get to choose whether you want to xp-lock to stay in Chromie Time, or if you want to be eligible for holiday loot. You can’t have both! Isn’t that wonderful game design?

I enjoy going back to the old zones, not in Chromie time obviously, but just going back and playing in the old zones. I think you can choose to do the low-level quests still, just being able to mow through them like the old dungeons.

The best solution would be having the option to leve Chromie Time or staying locked at 50 while still in Chromie Time. It would just mean not moving on to the next expansion or gaining more experience.

It would not require players to visit a npc and even give the option for other expansions to be at same level.

Yeah, but I can’t believe I’m the only one that missed it. Many thought just get to 50 before it was too late.

Not gonna happen of course. And I figured everyone needed a topic to get snarky about.
Also figured a new way for Blizz to make money.

Win/Win

Thank you.

The part that burns my noodles is the part where we can just use Party Sync to run a 60 down in lowbie content at level anyway…so why not just let us do it without the flipping game of having to cheat it with a second account?
Its THIS kind of petulant crap that keeps me perpetually on the edge of ‘quit’ with this game instead of just being able to relax and enjoy it all.

A lot of people have found this out the hard way.

I’m trying to rank up leatherworking in wrath right at this moment. Even though I’m above the max level for the expansion, the mats I need drop off mobs in wintergrasp that are scaled to minimum level 40. So I have to be carried to get the mats I need.

Chromie time needs to scale all the way to level 59 in my opinion. WITH HUGE ALERTS AND A OPTION TO STOP EXP THAT SECOND YOU HIT 59. It feels so bad to get jerked out of content you are enjoying because they want to funnel everyone into their latest system heavy expansion. So I feel your pain 100%.

I tried making a character to do lore master back when chromie time/shadowlands went live. Thought I could freeze exp at 50 and still do chromie time. Cause why not? No, instead they boot you from it and shove the Shadowlands quests into your log that you cannot abandon.

Thennn, I had character with frozen exp at 48… But the Shadowlands dialog every time I would go into Org…And their forced quests annoyed me so much I did the intro to get rid of the people standing the middle of Org and go back to Chromie time because my EXP WAS STILL FROZEN. and I was locked out out of Chromie time. I quit the game for 9 months because of this. I had already had over 200 hours put into the character and was about to start MoP when I made this terrible decision.

I guess that is just so stupid and a mistake on my end because my thought process was Chromie Time was still available if you were 48…“but not if you did the intro to SLs…??” Totally my fault stupid logic I guess. They did lose 9 months of my sub money because of this design decision though.

Now I am leveling a new character to 45 and freezing the exp there 9 months later… and hoping I can go through loremaster on one character along with all the dungeons without being locked out of that with any problems. So maybe level 48 ain’t such a good idea. Freeze at 45 or 47 or shadowlands is forced onto you. And it can ruin all your progression.

It was such a cool system and then I realized how awful it was implemented. And it just became another half baked feature introduced in the game. And they seriously just need to get rid of levels at this point because it doesn’t even make sense anymore to have them.

Sorry for the long post but I feel really strongly about this and know your pain. I know some people won’t understand why I would be so upset about this… But I don’t have a good time in-game one-shotting 90% of the content it comes with.

EDIT: It burns me up a bit that they don’t try to explain this at all in-game. LOL…and it makes me mad that you cannot do Chromie time until you have already leveled to 50 or max once…whatever it is. I guess that makes sense, because it is a mess to even explain this to someone who has played this game for years.

When I leveled LW in Wrath I did it in Zul’drak. It’s been so long, but I’d have to say around the Altar of Mammoth. Lots of mammoths and raptors around there.

No it’s not

You can level lock to 49 actually. You need to dismiss the quest thing from SL. I’m doing this now so I never have to step foot in SL lol.

It’s garbage, and chromie time gets so much praise.
But it has so many problems. and doesn’t even seem fully developed.

Shadowlands intro quests are forced into your quest log every log in ( and possibly every reload) and the new quest chapter header at 48 and a repeated cutscene and dialog every time you enter the middle of Orgrimmar or go near the castle at SW.

Be really careful suggesting things like that to people when most people would prefer to freeze at 47 so they do not have to deal with this. It’s not something to laugh at when you put so many hours into something to enjoy the game and it gets screwed up over something that doesn’t even make sense.

Freeze at level 47 people. Don’t do what I did, 3 times before understanding this crap.

yep, happened to me without fully understanding what was going on. Plus took my four mains through BFA so I would be ready to put one in each Covenant. Big mistake. I thought Chromie time. I wanted to take my now major main back to do Loremaster - it was going to be a LOT of work, but hey…and now with the BIG content drought when everyone has time my last option is creating a new toon.

Sorry about that. I’ve got a toon with that much that’s just stuck.

Unfortunately a drop in the bucket for them.
Not stupid - a lot of people made the same mistake trying to figure Chromie Time out and using our own logic - which honestly, is logical. Seemed like the right path if they were forcing you that direction. I just kept thinking they wouldn’t do something this dumb.

^^^^ this bears repeating. And this:

YEP, Yep, yep…

And then after they knew they made a mistake they didn’t fix it - in ANY WAY, shape or form. Warn or change Chromie Time. I just want to go back to old expansions and not blast through them, and get Loremaster. Yeah, leveling is quick for the new players, supposedly, who don’t know what the hell is going on anyway.

Basically the take away at this point. Except newbies are forced through BFA and how do they know not to freeze EXP?

They can.
Some of you guys may not know of him either because you didn’t play back then or just didn’t care about stuff like this so you didn’t know but there was a guy back in the day named Athene

and Athene was well known for  “creative” ways of getting world first max level each xpac and one xpac one of his creative methods got him rolled back

So we know it’s possible to be done but whether they’ll implement it as a service is another question.
