I’ve gotten this boss 3 times in a row. The second time I got lucky with abilities I got from Torghast and barely downed him. The other two times I used all of my lives on him. He casts way too many spells to be interrupted and he hits way too hard. Please nerf him. I’m far from the only one who thinks he is overtuned.
142 ilvl… theres your problem, gear up a bit and it becomes a breeze.
142 ilvl.
Go back at 171 or something. This isn’t complicated stuff.
You’re nowhere even near heroic gear, bud.
People on WoWhead have complained that they have 170ilvl gear and still have issues with it. I can steamroll every other boss I’ve gotten but this guy. Other people have the same issue. The bosses shouldn’t be inconsistent. Either make them all difficult or nerf this one to make him easier.
Instead of spending your time here talking about what people on Wowhead said, you could have run 3 heroics and had the gear to beat him.
interrupt the disease and thats it to interrupt
He’s definitely overtuned (which is easily seen by comparing him to any of the other bosses), but you can still deal with it.
Grab one of the Torghast health pots.
Interrupt/Outrange his two other spells aside from the one he spams.
Cycle defensives to deal with his spammable attack.
If all else fails, run again and hope for luckier powers, or gear up.
he’s a tough boss for sure, but hardly unbeatable. just need to be smart about it, or lucky with powers. part of the challenge of a roguelike-ish mode is you never know what you are gonna get, cromwell happens to be the ONE boss we got right now that can throw a serious wrench into a run.
Yes he is very overtuned. I couldn’t kill him at 145ish ilvl but when I went back after getting a bit more gear I got a different boss anyway and one shot it easily.
Some posters are really putting their ignorance on display.
I encounter Cromwell in layer three today at 160 ivl and I can say for absolute certain that he is overtuned. He does an insane amount of unavoidable damage and has around 270k hp. I did actually manage to kill it, by getting a lucky proc from my anima trait that allows kill shot to automatically kill something below 25% health. Nevertheless, even playing near perfectly I was only able to get him to about 20% hp, where I would have died if not for the proc.
I reckon with around 180 ilv you’d not have too much trouble, but I suspect that is more than the intended gear level for layer three. Alternatively you could get lucky and get really good anima powers.
All the same, based on my observation, Cromwell is in need of a good 25% or so reduction in damage output, minimum.
