Pathfinder world first idea

this is probably a terrible, terrible idea. it’s an idea that i hope blizzard does’nt do, but it’s an idea that’s… interesting, so i’m gonna put it out there.
…also, i came up with this after staying up all night so… it’s a little stupid/silly.

blizzard needs get rid of pathfinder, and replace it with a ‘world first pathfinder’ event per server. what do i mean? well, to put it simply, only one person has to do pathfinder for the entire server to be able to purchase flying.

basically, when an expansion first comes out, blizzard puts out pathfinder, and nobody can fly. first person to complete pathfinder gets a snazzy mount (like the WoD rylak) a feat of strength achievement, a title having to do with the expansion (WoD’s would be iron scout, for example.), and free flying for that expansion. after that, everyone else can buy flying like before.

so basically… pathfinder becomes a race for free-flight, a mount, an achievement, and a title. after that, everyone can buy flight without going through pathfinder. think scarab-lord, but with pay-for-flight as a runner-up prize for everyone else.

…please go easy on me, i just wanted to get this idea out there…

It’s not fair to be honest.

The whole idea of giving out exclusive titles to one person or rewards to one person is bad practice.

Give it to people who put in the effort. Not to one person. Like the Rank 4 Essences title.

the person who’d unlock this exclusive title/mount, would obviously have put in the effort. i mean, pathfinder isn’t something that can be done willy-nilly. also, not fair? last time i checked, not everyone was a scarab-lord.

Scarab Lord was probably the worst idea.

This isn’t a single player game. This is a MMORPG where everyone is made to feel they are the hero.

Scarab Lord should have been a very hard achievement but available to all players only for that period of time.

In my world, the other people who got Scarab Lord do not exist according to the Lore.

incorrect. this is a game where everyone is supposed to be a small part of the greater whole. the ‘feeling like a hero’ stuff did’nt come around until later, and a good chunk of players have pushed-back against the idea since WoD.

it was, but ultimately it came down to who made/used the scepter of the shifting sands. both sides worked together to get the supplies needed to open the gates of ahn’qiraj, but only one person could get the title and mount.

i’m sorry? do we not live in the same world? last time i checked, there was only one scarab lord per server. also, if it’s not a single-player game, they exist.

That is an original idea. You deserve a donut party. :raising_hand_woman::raising_hand_man:

I’m saying according to the game’s lore only you exist as the player/hero character. The person who got the scarab lord title exists in his game.

I’m not sure. I think it’s a bad idea to reward only one person.

okay, fair, it is a ‘bit’ of a bad idea to reward one person, but the way i see it, everyone else gets rewarded too, by not having to do pathfinder to get flying, and instead can buy it, like back before WoD.

I’m pretty sure people will be pissed at the fact that some random nobody has that title and mount which they can’t even more than flying.

This idea could exist in the form of rewarding multiple people but eh good luck. They are just trying to squeeze money out of each person. You only have to look at the methods employed by them in this expac

They certainly wouldnt be some random nobody if they unlocked flying for their entire server.

Maybe but Pathfinder is better if you can get those rewards yourself than depending on someone else to do it.

people were’nt mad when someone got the scarab-lord title, and opened ahn’qiraj for everyone on their realm. i mean… they probably still had to do attunements, but atleast they did’nt need to open the raid up.

Is it? Is grinding reputations by doing world quests that you know are going to be absolutely trivial the moment you get flying, really rewarding? Is that really fun?

OPs idea suggest a larger effort than literally just grinding world quests. It seems like a better solution to me.

It’s not fun but at least I got the rewards like for example the Mounts and didn’t have to feel bad that I could have got another mount if I had no lifed the game

According to your collection, there are a ton of mounts you could have gotten if you no lifed the game, so thats kinda moot.

Going off OPs idea, I could see the way to unlock it similar to warfront unlocks.

The whole server contributes to earning the mount, but then eventually some hardcore content is required to finally unlock the pathfinder. That way its not just a bunch of players waiting around for someone with no life to carry them to flight.

Perhaps you could earn a mount through contributions, but the title goes to the unlocker. Perhaps the final unlocker just gets a cooler reskin of the mount that everyone who contributed got. Theres tons of different iterations of this idea that could be possible, we don’t have to just take his exact idea and roll with it.

But why should that person get the title and mount when there are countless others who have put in the effort too?

Why is that person special enough just because he happened to be the first person to right click a function?

This way everyone gets a mount, the unlocker gets a cooler one. Easy and fair.

Imagine the final unlock requires a “mage tower” experience but significantly harder.

because they put in the extra effort?

I get that.

I’m asking why should he be the one to get the title?

Sheer dumb luck?

And so did a lot of people? I doubt the person who opened the gates for example collected all the resources.
