I bet if they dump pathfinder, the sub base would jump up by at least fifty percent.
Lol no it wouldn’t. Flying isn’t why a lot of people left
It wouldn’t affect the subs at all, however it would definitely make me a much happier camper.
It is why I left if WoD. So, your point is not true.
I prefer the old system. Unlock it at max level or like in LK didnt we unlock it 2 levels before max? Flying should be incorporated into the game as a mechanic. Not a reward for a grind half way through the xpac.
Pathfinder itself is fine. It needs to be released sooner, however. Nearly a year into the expansion is far too long to wait for flight. I like all of my alts getting flight for free with work on my main.
Also, it wouldn’t jump subs up. Not yet. The class design has been the real killer, and I can agree with folks there.
Its half the reason, its own existence is the reason that the “content” is just farming and farming AND FARMING reputations with EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM being time gated.
Get rip of Pathfinder and we can ger rid of over the top Rep farming
They definitely need to dump old expac pathfinders. No reason I should have to go back and farm stuff I wasnt here for just to be able to fly as I level or go back to the zone. I don’t know if you got the mounts or whatever in the old ones, but if so, they can remain as the reward for people who still want to.
The new pathfinder is a bit ridiculous though, to have 2 parts… It really should have been the 3 reps + honorbound/7th legion, and a little quest chain…
Mecha/Naz should have had their own requirement for their areas specifically.
The time gating was stupid too, for sure.
It shouldn’t have been a thing at all though, agreed… but if it must, it shouldn’t be one that pisses people off to not play at all.
Idk about Legion but WoD had a mount
It should be released with the first raid as a reward for your first AOTC of the expac.
yea grinding and working for something IS SOOOO TERRIBLE
Wish i could do as long has i want to and not be forced to wait every single day
I like Pathfinder, but it does need some improvements.
Pathfinder shouldn’t take as long as it does to currently unlock. The time-gating on it is ridiculous. 3-4 months into an expansion flight should start to be available.
Pathfinder Part I should unlock flying in the zones available at the expansions release; Part II should become available to work on and unlock the next zones released, and so on.
Once a new expansion launches, the previous expansion’s Pathfinder should become optional. If a player wants to complete the Pathfinder achievement(s) it will unlock flight for all characters, same as now. If they don’t, they should be able to purchase flight on a per-character basis.
Pathfinder (part one) is not a bad compromise… stay on the ground a bit, explore the entire map, earn some rep - it happens as you are playing a new expansion or patch nearly naturally. What SUCKS is the Pathfinder Part II gated 1 year behind Part I.
There are HUNDREDS of threads on this topic, and though I have not read them all, I’d nearly guarantee that 80% of folks don’t mind Part I. Either nix Part II or do not make the player base wait for a year between parts.
LOL its time gated, now if they had the grind and the reward from the start not so bad, like it is, not even worth playing the game.
In a game? One that people play to relax? Yeah, it kind of is. Let’s not lose sight of what WoW really is here, it is just a game. I work 50+ hours a week and when I chose to relax I don’t want that to feel like work. Pathfinder, as it is currently implemented, makes WoW feel like work. Don’t even get me started on the time gate aspect of it.
Semper Fi!
I respect your thoughts, but had to respond.
Person A can play 5 days a week for 2 hours a night.
Person B can play 2 days a week for 1 hour a night.
Person A will get flying before Person B.
It is not Blizzard’s job to provide flying in the same amount of time for people who have different time to play. You work more? It’ll take you longer. You and Person A & B are all on a level playing field.
Pathfinder Part II, though? And the time gating?!?!?! I agree with you 200% there.
Yeah, having to do the same stupid rep grind every expansion for the exact same reward as last time IS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME
In my opinion, you should have to purchase a flying license for a hefty amount of gold once you hit max level and have done the main quest line. I do understand the requirement of doing the quest line so that you actually have to go through the story and immerse yourself in the game a little. Flying should be introduced 3-6 months after the expac launches. As for the rep grinds and daily world quests, I think they should do away with those requirements.
This is of course just my opinion. Ultimately, I’m one of the psychos that think they shouldn’t have flying in the game, but flying isn’t going away and if it did many many players would probably quit.
I like the idea of buying flying with gold for past xpacs - so people can avoid the tedious rep grind to play the current content…
Current content though - earn it, like the rest of us muck-dwellers have to
