I figure it much the same.
I pay to play.
Not sure I should be paying to be punished by petty devs who wanted to remove flying and were forced to add it back so they decided to take it out on their free money people.

It should be redone for older expansions. For expansions 2 or older, it should be removed. For previous expansions, the reputation requirement should be dropped to honored. But it would still require you to be maxed level for said expansion and to complete the exploration stuff.
I’d unsub asap if they did this… It would open the gate for them to put pretty much anything achieved in game up for cash. The only time this would be acceptable is if they went 100% f2p, which I also hope not.
I said the exact same thing. 8.2 made me realize that I shouldn’t content I don’t like in order to get flying. Rep shouldn’t be a requirement. Period.
I’d be interested in hearing your definition of “content”.
so is it content, or not?
such as?
Well I can’t answer his idea for content, but logically… It isn’t new or good content. Content would be adding new things to grind for. Pathfinder could be content, to do it once. Flying was content when we have to save for it in BC, then again for higher speed. It shouldn’t be considered content to take something away from everyone, then tell them they have to re-earn it each DLC. That’s lazy af.
Pathfinder requirements aren’t inherently stupid. What is stupid, is the fact that it takes a year for flying to come out as if it’s some grandiose reward. It should be farmable from day one of the expansion but blizzard has to stretch out “content” because they’re afriad WoD 2.0 will happen again.
Funny how a lot of people hate BFA even more than WoD, even though it had less content eh?
Some players: “Pathfinder is terrible and is making the expansion terrible.”
Other players: “You should go do older pathfinder during terrible expansions then.”

I always laugh when people post things like that. "Im angry over Pathfinder. Can’t wait for Classic "
Just doesn’t compute.
If they could find a way to correlate reputation with the ability to fly i would be happy to give them an all clear for Pathfinder.
But last i remember this isn’t Coruscant and no one is telling me where i should be flying or enforcing it.
It still confuses me as to why WoD mechanics manage to still exist in further versions of the game.
I was lucky enough to earn my pathfinders when they were current but my wife struggled to get her WoD pathfinder even when I was handing her rep badges for the last stretch of the achievement. Unlike Legions and BFA’s pathfinder, you really need a guide and go out of your way to complete Draenor pathfinder.
And it’s been years now and I still see a bunch of people traveling on foot at Draenor.
My biggest problem with Pathfinder is the way Blizzard uses it to gate something people want with boring content. Really it wouldn’t be necessary if they would put actual effort into making better content. Seems like since Ion took over the amount of good content has dropped and boring tedious content has gone up, so to ensure that boring tedious content is played it has to be used as a gating mechanism.
I swear there was this one fellow on the forums that quit two weeks into BFA over pathfinder and claimed to have deleted every blizzard game off his computer out of frustration. Since he had about six months of prepaided game time, he was still able to post on the forums. I checked in on his profile about 6 months later and discovered that he actually went the full six months doing nothing, but whining about pathfinder and announcing that he was never going to play another blizzard again almost every week.
Then stay grounded. What do I care.

believe it or not, there are new and/or returning players.
surely you don’t believe that every account in existence was active during WoD?
Then stay grounded. What do I care
Everyone knows you don’t. You don’t and you don’t have to, and that’s okay. What’s not okay is mine and your friends trying to come back to the game, or heaven forbid new players that I or you are friends with, and finding incredibly dull and meaningless time-sinks in legacy content.
Sure, they’ll stay grounded or they’ll go work on legacy hurdles while not playing with their friends.
Can you not see how this is not good for the game health? Would you be playing a blood elf if you were required to go back an expansion or two and “work on” unlocking the race, after you already leveled a toon to max level in order to do so? Maybe, maybe not. It doesn’t make it a good system for enticing new and returning players.

You sure showed him? He’s totally wrong for not liking and choosing not to play by Ion’s rules for fun I guess.

JKx10char.
I don’t think the ridiculous grind for ARs is equatable with old Pathfinder. You’re barely in Draenor or Legion while leveling so it isn’t an issue that’s even on the radar for them, most likely.
Pathfinder isn’t really stupid, it’s the way it was implemented that was just a waste of time and effort. I finally gave up on even doing Pathfinder in WoD content because again, why waste my time for what.
