Pathfinder: Fixed or Fading?

I used Dragon riding for the most part, unless it is a short distance, then ground mount is fine. The other thing I did was I bought the Logitech MX Vertical mouse which is specifically designed for people like me who cannot wrap their hand or fingers around a regular mouse. This allows me the freedom to do everything I used to do with a regular gaming mouse, but lets my hand sit in a relaxed position to prevent injuring myself further, or straining my hand/fingers after extended gameplay. Well worth it for me.

The truth has come out and it shows that the limitation was not based on anything in game but really they wanted to make the world questing experience very dull. The MAW was a preview of what they wanted to do.

Zones that dont have flying arent inherently bad. I recall people liking Timeless Isle in MoP quite a lot

Just because dragon riding ia in the game doesnt mean static flying needs to be.

Static flying is a dinosaur of a system. The game would really benefit from its removal. (Like if the could fix the handful of quests that require it)

Yea the Maw didnt let you mount at all. And it felt awful.

Maybe with a redisign the concept couldve worked. But it definetely didnt work for me.

Turns out you can design content/zones that incorporates/compliments flying

Except all the zones and overworld content in DF/TWW are awful?

Sooo they obviously cant design good zones with flying. The last two expansions have proved that.

agree to disagree

Laziness was the issue from WoD thru SL.
Pure, unbridled, self serving laziness.
Just doing the bare minimum to keep the subs going, no real creativity. No original thought. Just crank out the same boring kind of content every expansion, partially enabled by keeping us on the ground to pretend there was more content than there actually was by making it to much longer to get from A to B.

DF and now TWW proves beyond argument that Ion and crew ARE actually talented enough to make content using their own game mechanix.
Two winners in a row now BECAUSE they finally chose to be CREATIVE and make the game with Flight in mind instead of trying to make it an afterthought.

The next expansion that takes a step backward and brings PF back as a requirement for flight instead of having it day one will be the next one I dont buy at all.
I like skyriding so I’ll buy as long as it doesnt require PF, personally…but PF needs to be removed entirely as a requirement for any mode of flight and used for a mount reward or something instead.

PF was easiest this go around I guess it could go away.

It’s not speculation, it’s wishful thinking … Blizzard are fixated on it, they view it simply as a player engagement yolk which the bean counters love, it isn’t going away anytime soon IMO.

nothing speculative about it, really.
when Ion the Pathfinder God finally relents from a year or more of pathfinder to a few hours…well, if one doesnt have the processing power to see that writing on the wall, I wouldnt bother signing up for jury duty any time soon, lol

How would the game benefit from it? Don’t bring the World-PVP argument for there is no such thing as World-PVP anymore.

just ignore him. hes literally here to troll for attention…to say any edgy passive aggressive crap he can so his group can to rile you up so you can give them the attention they aint getting IRL.
Its not worth your time, thought or energy to engage them.

and yes…theyre whining about losing their gank fodder because of steady flight.
Its ALWAYS about their ganking lowbies because they cant compete with REAL pvp…

Honestly, if they want to insist on this stupidity, then the true compromise is this:

Normal flying from the get go of the expac, awesome mode flying after a very simple questline.

Not whatever this is.

This expac works well with awesome flying though (except for the bombs). Goblins make things go boom, I shouldn’t have to go boom.

TBF, people liked Timewaste Isle because of a Legendary Cloak and an item that made them a PvP target to both sides, Alliance and Horde. People who enjoyed that zone may not have been limited in scale, but limited in Scope. If that isle looked and felt like the Maw, I would bet money on the fact that it would have been a more sparce crowd.

There was also a fair number of things to farm for (mounts, battlepets, toys, etc…)
It was also a lot smaller than the maw, so getting around was easier/faster

The Spires of Arak in WoD says hello. There is nothing wrong with the zones, or with TBC flying. In fact, as someone who prefers TBC flying, I often switch to Dragon riding just so I can get across a zone in 30 seconds instead of 3 minutes. It’s a time saver for sure, but compared to the convenience of Steady Flight, I am just not a fan of skyriding. I feel like the faster flight should be gated if PF is a must. But then again, I got PF in 3 days (all during early access) so at least it was not locked behind rep and 11.1 or worse, 11.2.

Yeah me too, it’s now a vindictive flex on the community.

So you want to deny 1,000’s of disabled players from being able to play the game now?..what a humanitarian you are now…NOT

You’re right, it’s all some massive conspiracy against the players. Or maybe an actual dynamic form of flying is better than pressing the space bar and auto fly to your destination? They should get rid of classic flying entirely imo.
