Working for it is fine but just answer me this: why couldn’t I have my reward once I earned it? Why did I have to wait almost a year for something I earned 10 months ago? That’s pure garbage.
thank you selfless heroes for saving our world over and over again but sorry you cant fly here until you’ve proven yourself worthy and can be trusted
I also wonder if it was another tool they were trying to curb Automated bots that were farming the Crap outta content for herbs and ore etc…
you mean like the endless numbers of druids with names like hfgegvb running around in stag form with tons of mobs training behind stopping at each herb in sight and getting away before those mobs caught up oh yes locking flight really hinders botting
well as a FORMER botter that did run scripts, I couldn’t find good ones that just used ground mounts …it was a lot more work and usually ended up as a failure.
pathfinder 2.0 wasn’t able to finish until a few weeks ago nice try though.
You’re missing the point (as usual). You say we cry about having to work for our rewards and I’m telling you we DID work for and earn our reward but the huge problem is it is being spitefully time gated for absolutely zero logical reasons.
I have 11 alts and I’d be willing to shell out 100k. Not sure how I’d actually make that much gold. It might actually get me to spend some actual real money to buy tokens for the necessary gold. Which otherwise is never going to happen. Of course that is assuming they revert Pathfinder in 9.0, which they absolutely should.
You must have better flight masters than I do. When I want to get from Boralus to Mechagon, I find myself routed on a scenic tour of Stormsong Valley. It might not be quite as bad as “fly halfway up the Jade Forest then cut back south” to get from Paw’don to Timeless Isle, but it’s hardly a direct line…or even the most efficient version of “connect the dots”.
Pathfinder was a product of WoD’s half-finished state and was (and still is) used to inflate time-played metrics.
All this time…all they had to do was make flying dangerous. That’s it! Make getting on a flying mount a risk. Make us navigate around dangerous stuff and get dismounted etc…
That is all they had to do to slow down content consumption with flying and in all these years the ONLY time they had risk to flight was in the stupid Xpac that introduced it to start with!!! Every iteration after that has been a concession to the best idea they had for flight which was the first idea and implementation.
They havent put any effort into it since and it shows.
“Gosh, I wish our players disliked our game content so much that they only consumed a tiny bit of it every now and then.” Said no game developer ever.
The enthusiasm of Blizzard gamers is what MADE Blizzard successful. Players have always gobbled content up. And flying was available at max level for four expansions . . .four expansions that I stayed subbed to through loooong content droughts because I leveled alts and worked on getting LFR gear for each one and worked up professions because they were fun and rewarding and killed frogs until I was seeing them in my sleep.
And then you discover that it triggers every time you walk into the zone, and it goes from having any sort of impact to being laughable.
There are better ways to get the kind of impact you claim they want. Heck, if we’d been flying we could have had a scripted “close call” on our flying mounts the first time we entered the zone. THAT would have made the weapon feel like a personal threat and deterrent to using flight more than necessary.
You are saying that an MMORPG exists, so that people can immerse themselves in the single player aspect storylines?
Do you even MMORPG bro?
Star Wars Galaxies = No rep grinds
Everquest 1 = Rep grinds only existed with the ability to earn the reputation through playing the game. No time gating. No "only earn 1k rep per day with NO ALTERNATIVE OPTION to earn reputation. You could farm monsters, run dungeons, with groups, etc.
Everquest 2 = Same as EQ2 (Flying stil exists and requires no time gated rep gain)
All in all, blizzard has instituted this time gated requirement in order to falsely extend the most non-mmorpg aspects of the game. Daily quests are not encouraging group play. People play MMORPG to engage in activities with other people. The current implementation of pathfinder only further isolates players into a lonely nightmare version of Skyrim, if Skyrim only let you log in and play for about an hour each day with a maximum of 4 hours per week.
Nobody wants that, outside of a few extremely random casuals who enjoy playing mmorpg’s by themselves.
In almost every context.
Throughout WoWs history rep grinds have largely been optional. Sure, they locked items and such behind them, but if you didn’t care about those items there was little point in the rep. Vanilla had a ton of reps to farm, but you only really cared about a few specific ones depending on your profession.
Aside from the very few times where rep locked content such as heroic dungeons or a raid attunement, reputation has never been mandatory for engaging in the games actual content. Please note that content here is defined as PvP, Dungeons, Raids, Questing, etc, and not specifically having, owning, or acquiring, optional side content such as professions, toys, or pets.
Blizzard made the game but it was the players that made it a success without us WoW would’ve ended up FTP or laying in an old bin collecting dust beside other games like wildstar the matrix online and city of heroes
I’m pretty sure there have been reputation grinds that rewarded more quests unlocked in at least Wrath and Pandaria.
Edit: Cata too. The Molten Front comes to mind.
the argent tourney wasn’t an automatic addition we had to do dailys and basically help construct the compound
Not missing the point at all, you think that you should get what you want when you want it…well that’s not how this works. Stop being lazy, put the work in to both the requirements. Not just is this good enough? no its not, again its an MMO, maybe you should realize what goes into that. Again, i’d love them to take flying out completely it would solve the “Give me what I want now” argument.
I didn’t know waiting x number of months counts as work!! If I just sat around at my job but told them I was waiting do you think they’d pay me? LOL like I said…right over your head.
