Path to Mythic Appearance?

Is M+ 8s for gilded crests to upgrade Hero track gear to 5/6 or 6/6 the most feasible way for a “casual” to get Mythic appearances? Outside of the rare chance a Tier 8 Delve drops one of those extra maps…

You need to get an item upgraded to Hero 5 (623) to unlock the mythic transmog appearance. Once you get each item slot filled with 619 or greater you get the ability to convert 45 runed crests to 15 gilded. You need 135 gilded crests (or 405 runed crests) to upgrade enough items to unlock the mythic transmog.

The most casual friendly way (but also the slowest) is to take the tokens from the vault each week and convert them to gilded. That would take 9 weeks, assuming you are starting with zero runed crests.

If you do other crests rewarding activities, this speeds up considerably. If you do all the world activities that reward carved crests (awakening the machine, etc) you get enough carved to make 15 runed per week. If you do LFR court and queen, you get almost enough to make another 15. That brings it down to 6 week only doing “casual” content.

I unlocked the mythic transmog appearance on 9 characters this season just doing delves and pugging raids.

To be able to upgrade 45 runed to 15 gilded I’d need to be full 619 first correct?

Correct. That can take a while but isn’t too bad. You’d need to get the 9 items you want to upgrade for the appearance to 619 anyway. Craft weapons and jewelry with the free enchanted runed crests you get from renown and you only really have to upgrade trinkets to get to full 619.
