anyone having this issue - download a free vpn - connect to a vpn server and the install instantly finished for me. has to be some weird ISP issue. Im a comcast user in SE USA
30 KB/s download rate. Flipping amateur hour.

use a vpn - worked for me as soon as I connected to a different region’s vpn

This worked for me as well. Hopped on Proton VPN and update downloaded instantly.
I also restarted and the size corrected it seems, and the initializing updated to the adjusted size. Restarting works 60% of the time, every time.
Can confirm, this fixed the issue for me as well as my friend.
Two times updating now :S
Excellent job Blizzard, love having a 1GB internet connection and waiting an hour for a 440 MB update… Not that I missed heroic raid tonight or anything…don’t worry no reason to fix your stuff.

Just wanted to say same thing is happening here. 400mb connection and been waiting 30 minutes for an 100 mb download.

Bit crazy the amount of effort it takes to when the client wants to randomly initialize.
Man another update. Alright, I guess I am done for awhile now.
Same. I wasn’t even expecting an update. Is this a hotfix? It’s around 450Mb, which seems large for a hotfix.
Finally finished. Put the PC to sleep while I made and ate dinner. Booted back up and the whole thing has restarted again and going as slow as before… This is painful.
Can someone tweet this thread to Blizzard CS on twitter.

Ending the “Battle.net Update Agent(32-bit)” process and restarting Battle.net allowed my Initializing to reset to normal speed, then the same thing occurred during the download process, same solution worked.
That worked for me initially but now it’s re-doing the whole thing and if I pause it or end task and try again it starts all over from the beginning again.
I am also experiencing this issue. My download is about 13 kb/s, I tried stopping the Battle.net Update Agent and restarting the client and it didn’t do anything other restart the already slow download.
I have a 1 GB connection and on AT&T in Florida.
