Did Torghast Layer 8s on a 189-geared monk.
I did not have fun.

For the past three expansions they have created zones like Argus, which was horrible, Nazjatar was even worse and now the Maw. They chose to focus on creating horrible content. Even with the “eye of the jailer” removed, being able to mount on any mount and a new area, it will still be a hard fail.
That’s honestly is the least of my annoyances with it.
I hate the maw because it’s completely separated from everything else I’m doing in the game. I hate that I’m unable to complete some quests if I do to much. I hate the mob density and barely being able to move literally anywhere without aggro’ing something. I hate that on top of all that, if you die, you LOSE the very thing you’re there for… because why? Why? Why is that necessary? Even better if you get to 5 and then die somewhere far away and try to get your stygia back.
Even the mob design in the maw is annoying. The slows. Fears. Stuns. The zone isn’t hard… it’s annoying.
I go to the maw once a week for the souls, and if there is a specific calling.
It has nothing to do with not being able to mount.
This place sucks. I would 100% grind out the rep in this place if not for the eye of the jailer.
Gating a grind is completely non-WoW. I dont know how else to put it.
I dont mind a good grind, i really dont. But let me do it and get it over with.
I don’t hate the maw because of the aesthetic.
I hate it because you can’t mount, dying there is frustrating, the penalties that you get for staying there are really awkward to deal with, and the content isn’t rewarding.
If they’re changing those elements, then I have no objection with the zone.
Source please.
Personally, I can mount in the maw, and since getting the mount I go there less than ever. It’s just grim.
Hey you, you’re finally awake. You were trying to leave the Maw? Walked right into that Blizzard ambush, like us and that derpy vulpera over there.
Community: Damn you Activision! We were fine before you came along. Blizzard was nice and creative. If it weren’t for you Blizzard could’ve stole the communities heart and been half way through a great expansion.
Yea right blizzard never never took feedback form like no flying to no loot ever. Some people act like if someone hate even thing about something its a personal attack on their whole life.
This game is not perfect and shadow lands have some big problems. Ego is bad for game design period.
The only problem with the Maw is that people don’t understand how it works, and are really terrible at doing it as a result.
The amount of misinformation about the Maw in threads like this is staggering.
Just getting a weakaura that shows your precise jailer hate level makes a huge difference, for example.
Well the story is taking us there with Anduin
Can’t wait to grind 40 more renown though
We shouldn’t have to use wEaK AuRaS to play the game.
If you have to rely on addons to make things suck less, its bad design.
I totally agree that the Eye Tracker should show the precise numerical value. But it doesn’t, so a weak aura is a simple way to get that information instead.
Each Eye level is subdivided into 1000 points. Killing blows of anything give 6 points. Farming Nightshade gives 12 points. Freeing a soul gives 100 points (and should therefore only be done when already at Eye 5).
Rares give varying amounts of Jailer hate, usually 300 or 400. The Soul Well event only gives 100 (and is therefore the most efficient Stygia farm in the game). Some quest objectives give Jailer hate. Some give none until the last objective is completed.
Turning in quests gives zero Jailer hate.
A weakaura displaying all of this helps you learn what to do, when to do it, and in what order to do things. Makes the Maw a lot easier, and a lot more fun.
It was in the BlizzCon speech from Ion. He said once again your mounts will heed your call in the maw. Just find the part where he was talking about 9.1 on what’s to come
Ah, sorry, I mean that “the main reason no one likes it” comment. I don’t think lack of mounting is the reason.
It’s just the number one complaint that I have seen on the forums that’s all I was going off some very very general information. It’s like people cant agree on reasons they don’t like the maw but the one reason they all seem to agree on is the fact that they can’t mount
Especially when just freeing souls for my covenant can make the Jailer arbitrarily half-way want my blood.
I think he’s getting really ticked you’re stealing his stuff. Those are his souls!
Technically, he stole them because of Sylvanas.
We’re just stealing them back. We’re, literally, reclaiming our property and he wants to arrest us.
He’s not a jailer, he’s a drug addict. He’s stealing our stuff to pay his next jail bond.
Oh yeah, I agree. But he really likes those souls - same with De Other Side Muezhala! Bwonsamdi was basically his pusher.
I mean, I’m with you, but chances are pretty high they had the new zone and raid developing loooooooong before we got our hands on it. It shows a pretty incredible lack of foresight though, that they thought anyone would actually enjoy the maw.
"Heard you don’t like the Maw.
We’re forcing you there."
They’re throwing a whole new zone with a completely different aesthetic into the maw and enabling mounting.
What about that am I supposed to hate?
