Patch 9.1 in a Nutshell:

Yea corridor creeper is. It honestly wasn’t worth the effort.

Judging the patch already when we know so little? GD is reaching.

… Name one time a patch surprised us pleasantly or threw us for a loop.

Can’t remember, since this has been one of the most bare boned patch announcements in a very long time. They really didn’t reveal much except where the main content will be around, not what will be in it.

Or my invincible. The dude is a literal undead horse. He would feel right at home.

My ashes of alar is the literal embodiment of life and rebirth. He should not be afraid to come to the maw.

they are striping out the things players hate about it and salvaging the zone as well as expanding it

your motorcycle fears the warping of time and space much like how mounts with souls are afraid of being capture by the jailer

I often wonder how many people in the world are actually named Debbie Downer.

They used said players will eventually be able to cleanse the Eyes of Jailer debuff. I’m guessing that’s going to be major time-gate of Korthia.

But it will be interesting to get rid of the mechanic completely

Dont worry blizzard knows what is fun.

they are also removing the eye penalty system too. Kinda big deal there.

They are making the Maw less painful as well. They talked a lot about how the 9.0 version of the Maw was designed to feel oppressive and hostile. I think they missed the mark a little and it often just feels tedious, and players avoiding killing mobs is frustrating when you’re a class without Vanish.
I think they want it to feel like we are breaking into the Maw for real in 9.1. 9.0 has as expedition into the Maw, 9.1 has us occupy it.

What I am unsure about is how the Jailer is going to still feel scary when we are building inns and staffing NPCs in his super torture prison.

No joke but I once knew someone named debby and she had down syndrome.

The irony was so real it was very hard not crack up laughing.

Have a mount in the Maw. Still loathe going there for anything other than Souls weekly. Mounts made it faster, not better.

They’re adding flight to the Covenant zones, but will require Renown 40 (to my knowledge), which means by the time you have it it’ll mostly be useful for alts or just grinding cosmetics. Re: Mostly irrelevant for current content.

I’m sorry, but they’re not bucking any of their previous trends in content design. “Give it late when it doesn’t matter nearly as much” isn’t fun. It’s tedious.

I have the mount, it’s still a pretty useless place.

Couldn’t agree more with this. IMO, intentionally limiting player enjoyment in order to enhance story/immersion is almost never a good design decision - you really need to have a fine balance to pull that off, and I personally think they missed the mark here by quite a bit.

What makes Maw terrible is not its oppressive atmosphere, it’s the lack of content in general.

they can make the maw mandatory if they want. at this point its principle. i wont go there.

Don’t forget recycled tier design and no customizations.

Basically just throwing a new raid at us and saying live with it.

At least most of the covenant mounts look cool.

The interviews also said we’ll be able to “cleanse” and eventually get rid of the Eye of the Jailer as well. The Maw’s just going to be a zone once we progress the story.
