The big one that got me into RP in the first place and CrossRP in particular was the Tournament of Ages, held at the old Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown. Included a bunch of games and activities like the nerf sword melee tournament, various vendors selling their RP wares, and the Wonderlight Ball to cap it all off.
Besides that, there are neutral merchant groups like the Duskrose Market which sets up in a different location every month, numerous storytelling groups that host gatherings to swap tales, and some guilds even coordinate RP-PvP events to add flavor to their conflicts.
I was so hyped when I first heard about this addon, then I was even more excited when I saw it lived up to the hype and more. Blizzard, what are you thinking?
I think an important thing to point out about cross-faction chat is that itās not just āchat.ā Roleplayers use chat for more than just what their character is saying - they describe what their character is doing too. So even in an intense conflict/war, they can describe trying to literally kill someone, but they need the other side of the faction wall to āunderstandā that in order to actually do that kind of roleplay.
Honestly, thatās so second nature to me as an RPer I never wouldāve thought to point that out. But yes, itās more than just us carebears who benefit. Thereās always been a great (and insanely dedicated!) group of RP/PvPers who get a lot out of Cross RP too.
Gotta say, I was pretty disappointed when I saw that Cross-RP was broken in the patch. It was an awesome addon. I didnāt use it as often as some, but when I did, it made all the difference in the world. It made WoW so much larger and alive, particularly at the Tournament of Ages when I first got to use it. It should be brought back. Aside from opening cross-faction communication entirely, nothing you put in this game will ever make it feel as big, open and alive as that addon did.
I finally got my first exposure to the Cross RP add-on when the cross-faction guild <Anytime Anywhere Messenger Service> on Cenarion Circle/Sisters of Elune held their yearly Armistice Day Ball, which is a remembrance of the Battle of Mt. Hyjal. In the past, trying to interact with members of the opposing faction during RP events has been an exercise in patience and frustration. Someone always has to play middle-man to translate back and forth, which takes away time for them to being able to enjoy the event as their character.
It was, without a doubt, a total game changer and opened my eyes to the potential of new RP events with this add-on in use.
All of the support and mad props to Tammy for an incredible addon! You brought many new people together, helped enliven stories and greatly enriched rp in general! Thank you so much and I hope to see this fixed! <3

Iāve hosted D20 combat events that are Cross-Faction and before Cross Roleplay, the emotes of those who are fighting were restricted purely to private BattleNet messages. Youād essentially have 10-20 private RPs happening next to each other with little indication of knowing whatās happening to the comrade at your side.
Cross Roleplay opened these sorts of events up to the publicās eye. Even if you werenāt participating, you could see writers from both factions participating in a massive clash. Iād prefer not to have to return back to such a cloistered method of Cross-Faction RP.
Exactlyā¦ which is why i quit wow to play on other servers with better versions of WoW where the gameplay is far superior to WoD, legion , BfA. at least untill classic comes out,t hen iāll play there.
Please give this back to us, Blizzard. Being able to RP Cross faction is such an amazing thing! Moonguardās RP community has come together in so many ways! Please donāt force us to separate!
Iām going to be likely reiterating what a lot of other players have said thus far, but it is such an issue for the roleplay community- already very alienated by a rather narrow story scope this time around- that it bears repeating.
Iāve been roleplaying in WoW since Cata landed, and have never been able to experience the level of immersion and community that Cross RP has given us. The world in which our characters inhabit is filled with all manner of races and languages, which we see spoken and translated back and forth all over the place in every quest and zone, each expansion after the other. It felt so genuine to be able to simulate that in friendship, in conflict, in story, and to have it denied us now, when the faction conflict is reaching yet another head and characters are rightly reacting this way or that is just beyond disappointing.
Of course this is just another roadblock in getting to enjoy the game we love in the way that feels best. We will make do, Iām sure, as we always have- my guild, for instance, operates in both factions, with amazing, active characters writing from both sides, together. That will not change. But the message this sends- that our experiences are not valid, or that weāre ādoing it wrongā, essentially, is a major blow.
It bears mentioning, too, that when the raids are done, and the achievements won, when the expac ālullsā come on, and they always do with the ebb and flow of any given, overarching story, it is your roleplayer base that is sticking around to keep on creating their own stories within the world youāve made. Time and time again. Listening to them, what their needs and wants are- these absolutely fantastic nerds who learn- and love- your lore inside and out, just makes sense to me.
As someone whoās been active in the RP community since WrA opened, Iād like to express my complete support for this add on. RP has my main reason for being in WoW since mid-LK, and is almost my only reason at the moment (Iām participating in very few PvE or PvP activities currently).
Losing functionality of something this important without a fix on the horizon is disheartening, especially when other MMOs such as SWTOR allow cross faction communication.
Please support your RP players whoāve been asking for cross communication. This add on has been crucial in many events. Weād like to have it back.
Iām far from active in the RP community these days, but this sort of add-on is something that I wish was around when I was active. Itās a great concept and seems to have a ton of support overall, along with creating a bridge that RPers have wanted for a very, very long time. For what itās worth, gotta give all the support I can give to the creator and the add-on as a whole.
The funny thing is that, as a SWTOR player but not RPer, I routinely forget you can actually talk cross-faction in SWTOR. Because the things that people think will be issues - trash talk in warzones (battlegrounds), or other in-game abuse - are totally nonissues. They simply donāt happen. In my Imp PvP sessions I get way more vitriol from the Imps than the Pubs.
The time has come for Blizzard to take the step and make cross-faction communication a reality.
This is one of the nicest addons to come to the roleplaying community. Iāve been able to invite fellow roleplayers from the horde to my events. Iāve got to know other people outside my circle of friends, met some of the nicest and sweetest rpers from the Horde side that would have never been possible with out this addon. I really hope this gets fixed for the sake of the community. It would be sad to no longer interact with the friends Iāve made.
Please allow CrossRP to come back Blizz, the game just isnāt the same for me with out it!
