Patch 8.1: Good, mediocre, or bad?

I have been playing the new patch and I have actually enjoyed it. So, save for the time switching to either attack or protect both war fronts, I don’t have any complaints. My experience with the patch is: It’s a good patch.

Its pretty decent, way better than patch 8.0.

I would say decent. It’s not the best not the worst

Literally everything it does to the base game is good. Does it make it a good patch? Hard to say. It doesn’t add a whole lot of extra content, and it doesn’t drastically reformat the game to wash away the bad taste 8.0 left in many players’ mouths. I’m sure most of us would prefer Azerite armor to be removed, not made slightly more palatable.

So… I dunno, 7/10 patch. Good, not great. Still waiting for those damn new allied races and some new zones to explore, but that’ll be 8.2.

So far this has been a wonderful expansion for altoholics. It seems the people that I see taking breaks right now, are folks who only prefer to play one or two characters at most.

Interested to see if the ilvls in BoD changes that. Because right now there’s really not much of a gap between the ilvls of a casual player, and the ilvls of someone who busts their butt on one toon.

So far 8.1 is so lacking I have no reason to resub yet

It added a lot of QoL changes, which are always welcome.

I’m also glad they added Darkshore and Arathi WQs with a currency to farm for pets and mounts. I like the Darkshore WF overall. Incursions do a fantastic job of breaking up the monotony of quest leveling and provide good rewards for crappy alts.

Mediocre. Fixes a lot of problems with the main game that should’ve been fixed/addressed before release, but not much in terms of real content honestly.

Warfront armor is pretty cool in terms of looks though, I enjoy it but once I finish collecting that pretty much just logging on to raid and RP these days

I just wish Blizzard would focus its attention on Gilneas. Rather than doing follower quests or even world quests or war fronts, I would hope they put efforts on creating a storyline where Anduin, Jaina, and our Patriach Dog get together and provide a story on how the Gilneans and Night Elves got together and repaired the capital. Then, have it as a port as well. To keep things interesting, have AI Horde attack Gilneas, and have the Alliance fend them off.

I cant form an opinion on it yet. I started leveling this toon the day it came out and only made it to the current expac last night. The only thing I can comment on is the 30%xp boost. That is freakin sweet.

It’s an improvement over all the flaws 8.0 had coupled with a rushed and incomplete expansion. It’s “ok.”

We shall see, when it launches on Jan 22. What we have now is not 8.1, it’s a smoke-and-mirrors until 8.1 lands on Jan 22. Sadly the only thing the early half-launch did was ruin M+ as a method to gear up…

it is pretty much what 8.0 should have been, then 8.1 should have built upon it, so tough to rate it as its own patch. I will go with Mediocre since half the patch still isn’t even released…

terrible.

Maybe this is something to be stated in another forum. However, it is best to know that we - the players and game license buyers - expect a complete product out in the market. I may have to state this was a rushed product from the start. I do have to place the blame on the game publisher and the game developer. If they want to compete with other game companies, then it is good to make their fan base wait a little longer and then provide a much complete product. I agreee with the majority of you: this was an incomplete expansion. And hopefully, Blizzard and Activision learned their lesson.

It’s passable, but could have been better. In the current environment of WoW I would say it is what I expected.

It’s how the game should have launched. 8.0 was one of the worst versions of WoW we ever got. 8.1 is fine, but it’s what 8.0 should have been. It’s really nothing more than what the game should have had on release and it’s also in about the same state as an expansion release patch.

There are tuning issues, LOTS of class design issues, they have an experimental GCD change in the game (that is STUPID AS HELL), Islands aren’t quite working out, Warfronts are ok but not knocking it out of the park. They keep experimenting with group finder rules and how the system works. Dungeons mostly work, but some affixes didn’t translate well into the BfA designs we need to see some work there.

All of that would be fine IF IT WAS A RELEASE PATCH. Unfortunately, this is now 5 months later.

Oh right, and those allied races they advertised constantly for the entire BfA hype? Yeah those aren’t in the game.

Orcs, Highmountain Tauren, Nighborne, Dark Iron Dwarves, Lightforged Draenai, and Void Elves are available. If you are referring to both Trolls (Zandalari) and Humans (Kul Tiras), then I agree with you. But, those were to be released afterwards. Perhaps after 8.2?
