Patch 1.1.0-1.11

If they could recreate the original vanilla timeline with each patch , would you play it?

Maybe once.

Eeeh rose tinted goggles are really more about personal confirmation bias,

The real problem is the people trying to go back aren’t the people they were back then,

I feel that the playerbase was more fun and friendly when there were more noobs than sweats

we used to just look at hunters who never found out they could train pet skills and druids who just avoided spending talent points due to choice paralysis as the REAL noobs and bumble our way through, good times

Now noobs START at cookie cutter meta with full gear list instead of figuring it out 4 weeks after hitting 60

Because of this the game has shifted to speed run and fleece the people catching up behind you and that would follow to any release going forward : ( no matter how atavistic you make the game.

Turns out reversing behavioral modification is impossible when 3rd parties starts reinforcing it. So only add things to existence that you are fine with other people dropping on your head cause people be treating other people the way they treat other people.

Now addon free and strict no botting naked wow through the expacs would be the kind of torture I could get behind, throw in item weight, experience decay, and corpse runs to get your gear back pls.

Ya that kinda happens when you only level using boosting

For sure, but it tracks, in other game modes you can teleport to the dungeon be thrown in with randos from across the cosmos and rollface

that’s what leveling is supposed to feel like to people who came up that way,

They don’t realize leveling used to be the sinking ocean and dungeons were small bits of wood to cling to keep you going

MAN I think I really miss being a coelacanth!

No. I played the original patches and there is a reason they kept patching.

YES!

of course :expressionless: that would be amazing stuff

sure but that doesn’t mean the old patches aren’t better than any modern game out today :expressionless:

Change the game how much you want… It won’t fix how flawed classic is.

What you cannot fix is far superior Internet speeds, vastly superior add-ons, far more powerful computers, discord, YouTube guides, bis lists, everyone with E sports mentality, STREAMERS.

everything outside the game ruined classic… and going to a previous patch won’t change anything. Same thing different patch number. It’s gonna suck regardless

With no changes it would suck less than the remastered Classic. You’re the boss as to how many addons and extraneous sites you use.

i mean kinda with classic + if wow head would stop posting every little mined item from the patch

Good luck dude. For profit company who makes their business on clicks.

That content is gold.

They will literally never stop posting that stuff.

You could just stop looking up things on wowhead.

There is a 0% chance of this happening.

we can dream though :expressionless:

I mean…it would be interesting. But according to Blizz they don’t have the data. They were lucky enough to find the 1.12 data on a backup of a backup. And apparently some bits and scraps of older stuff.

Could they try to replicate it? Yeah, the patch notes are all there. I’m sure there’s a lot of bug fixes they don’t want to re-introduce though. But the real issue is…you see the amount of effort they put into Classic. They would NEVER commit to this. And for what? A short-term journey through a state of the game that was even more unpolished? And just imagine how much they would break the game when they start fiddling with it, as happens every time they do.

So really it’s just a combination of incompetence + indifference + it might not even be possible. Maybe a private server could tackle it though.

I mean they could make it as simple as possible and just give us the old talent trees and items :expressionless: I’d have fun with that
