Patch 10.2.5 - Seeds of Renewal

my optimistic conspiracy theory is that underground expansion will secretly have more than is currently announced, like more allied races in patches or something.

Single rock dwarf allied race is just too weird as a sole new feature.

I am super skeptical that they won’t hit a reset button after the three. Even if they don’t admit it now (or don’t know), I just don’t think there’s a way forward.

A 20-year-old game with a storyline so convoluted you actually have to ask a dragon to break it into individual chunks for you? Systems wildly behind the times? When they gave Overwatch a sequel?

I know what Blizzard said. And I know Blizzard says a lot of things. I’d still bet on WoW 2 or something similar.

I dunno how calling the next thing “WoW 2” would change the difficulty of proceeding with such an old franchise. The story is super convoluted, but having Azeroth “hatch” and delete the timeline or something could be done within the current game without losing so much legacy stuff (by just having “new eggshell azeroth” be a new continent with legacy content accessible through magic)

WoW’s systems don’t really feel far behind other MMOs, and there really aren’t any young, innovative challengers out there. FFXIV and ESO are like 10 years old at this point and FFXIV just feels like slower WoW, while ESO feels like the freshest combat systems of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, 2012’s most okay game

I do wonder how long WoW can keep going, but it will probably survive longer as a weird legacy game that people come back to every few years than as a risky new game which deletes that nostalgic legacy experience. I don’t know a lot about Overwatch but it kinda looks to me like Overwatch 2 would, in WoW’s parlance, just be considered an expansion–tweaks and redos of old mechanics which replace the previous game. Idk why it wasn’t marketed that way but maybe I’m underselling how much was changed?

anyway I did buy some time and I am now Dark Miko, eater of planets and liker of Red and Green, but not in a Christmasy way, in an evil way

Yeah, Azeroth hatches, there’s a level squish, maybe some aesthetic upgrades, expansion of Chromie time and/or re-origination, timewalking expansions. They know the player base isn’t going to switch to a totally new game. We’ll all be dead before this game.

They may even do something totally new like… rip off Epsilon and finally give players the ability to use the world and create content :joy:

They did say a lot of new features and surprises were coming so I wouldn’t throw in the hat just yet for housing and when it might show up.

We may be on Club Penguin’s level sooner than we think!

Guys the question was, would you cut down the world tree for player housing. It sounds like the resounding answer is yes, so I’m going to send blizzard a letter letting them know that we all stand behind this drastic, necessary action.

And I really, really don’t see where anything I suggested comes close to ‘raid mechanics’ and is actually extremely close to if not exactly what you want.

I currently have a city and 3 pyramids on one Conan server and I just built a galleon ship on another last night. One of my friends built a 27 room dungeon on Conan complete with boss spawns, sound, lighting, etc. We did an underground cavern once with a full Dwarven city. I had a tea house for awhile. I’ve had a mage tower that was shaped like a mushroom, several taverns, a Grecian looking villa, a 2-story library, a garden with sunken bath, castles, keeps, ruins, and hidden bases in caves. A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine set up an RP event in an outdoor setting where everything was glowing (trees, mobs, etc.). The event was the Conan version of an acid trip where everyone had been drugged, so he got to use a lot of fun decos.

I’ve used housing on SWTOR and ESO as RP sites. Changing up the decor, you can go from a casino to a safe house to a military base. You can have an inn, a personal residence, a university, a prison, an arena, a villain’s warehouse, a black market, a windmill, a cathedral…basically if you can imagine it, you can make it in another game’s player housing.

Coming soon to your transmog closet; you too can mog your character to resemble a pyromaniac:

I hate when the Dark Lady just leaves her armor around for anybody to find and put on.

I’m just getting my hopes up that we’ll get the Arthas /Lich King transmog.

Idk how many people will be able to pull off a sylvanas cosplay but the chestpiece will work really well just for a quiver if you wear a tabard over it, I like that

Looking at the item list, it seems the quiver is actually a separate piece in the back slot.

With the addition of a shirt and one of the chainmail-texture tabards, I might go ahead and put this on my dark ranger. I’m weak for the aesthetic, and I haven’t been able to come up with a different dark ranger mog that I really love.

In the dressing room it is attached to the cuirass, but I do see the quiver as a back-item standalone too. Which is pretty cool that it is customizable in that way, you can wear the quiver by itself or in its cuirass-attached variant which includes a strap going over your chest. There are also two different cuirass variants, one bellybutton-revealing and one more modest, which is also a neat level of customization.

Clearly, we murderhobo-adventurers were so angry by Sylvanas disappearing in a puff of smoke without (gasp) leaving any loot behind, we raided Windrunner Spire’s wardrobe just so that we’d have some items to roll over and blame the hunter for stealing.

Ohh, I see. That is neat, I agree!

I’ll have to look at it more when I get the chance. I haven’t seen the more covering cuirass variant.

I’m imagining a Pandaren sliding into Sylvanas’s old pants and suddenly acquiring an Elf’s waist and legs because of the magic within the garments, and admiring the change in the mirror right as somebody else walks in, and the hilarity that would ensue.

Plot twist was that Sylvanas’s corporeal form was just as rotten and decayed as the rest of the Forsaken, she just had a whole wardrobe that lifted and supported her everything.

I always have to laugh at this. The player’s character and most forsaken are falling apart. skin, limbs and all and yet the NPC’s leading the Forsaken generally look like they stepped out of a Bauhaus music video.

I am fully willing to declare the Sylvanas Mog set is equivalent to the Princess Crown of the Mario universe if you are.

But yeah, the whole thing with Sylvanas possessing her own corpse and then, post trying to remove herself from the census after the Lich King was defeated, somehow coming back stronger than ever courtesy of Val’kyr sacrifice and then making Nathanos ‘just like her’ because one of the big names at Blizz starched the hell out of his dakimakura of Sylvanas …

Afrasiabi really was desperate to crack open a cold one, wasn’t he?
