- After defeating Smolderon, Fyrakk swoops down and empowers his axe with the body. It’s not clear if he’s just empowering the axe from the elemental corpse or absorbing Smolderan’s essence into the axe (like how Thunderaan’s essence was in those talismans back in vanilla). So until we get proper context, I’m assuming that after the raid Smolderan is off reforming in the Firelands.
- The second video is Fyrakk monologuing before the fight.
Do we know yet why Smolderon is evil now or why he was missing in BFA
Think it’s more just him following his nature.
The dungeon states that he wants to expand the Firelands, so it’s possible that he wants the powers of Amirdrassil for himself. Plus when we aided him, it was because he hated mortals less than his rival.
The Cult of Ragnaros was behind his disappearance in BfA. I just figured that he freed off screen, like how Neptulon freed himself from Ozumat offscreen between Cata and Legion.
I know they are still a work in progress but I laughed when Fyrakk flew off as the ‘work in progress’ cube.
Fyrakk’s hyper petulant attitude is kind of growing on me. “I don’t need my family! I don’t need anyone!” Is probably the lamest thing you can say before initiating mortal combat.
So much so that the needle spins all the way around back to at least mildly amusing. Next he’ll tell us he doesn’t have to listen to what we say because we aren’t his real dad.
Smolderon could also potentially remain trapped within the axe, and perhaps saved for a future expansion, although if Smolderon is in fact killed within a piece of the Firelands, it’s possible that Smolderon will be perma-dead and that it is simply the essence of the Firelord in the axe.
Regardless, I really don’t see how this isn’t going to end with a loss of a balance in the elements. They’re going to need something to do after The Worldsoul Saga, and an upset in the balance of the elements is something that could slowly become a new threat.
I think it’s already been established that Thunderaan has been fighting against Smolderon’s minions, so if Smolderon is lost and there’s no one to replace him, that could lead to some problems. If Fyrakk somehow becomes Firelord, that could also lead to an imbalance, though personally I think we are going to kill Fyrakk and probably obliviate his very soul somehow, thoroughly destroying him forever.
