Patch 10.0 or Ventura?

Hello, so here is my situation. Since the last patch (10.0) and Ventura came out almost at the same time I don’t know which one is at cause. I have a freesync monitor (45-75HZ). If I set it to freesync on the Mac settings, it’s stuck at 50 fps with vsync on. If I don’t use vsync it goes to 200-300 fps but with stuttering since it doesn’t fit my screen refresh rate. Before the patch, I just put the screen/Mac settings free sync on and the game was at 75 fps without having to enable vsync. Now no combination works as well. Anyone know something that could help?
I have a 14’’ MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip

Thanks !

In the graphic section you have the option to set max forgegroud fps and target fps, that might help? Set both to 76 see if that helps? Though this settings only works if your not using Vsync.
Freesync and Vsync should be able to work together, I did use this earlier this year on my old monitor (Monterey) but I switched monitors so can’t test it.

yeah I tried that. but its stuttering like crazy using that option. I just don’t understand why the game is not going to 75fps when I have freesync on. It’s stuck at 50 fps for some reason. If I set it to 75Hz instead of 45-75hz on the Mac settings it’s not too bad but not as good as pre patch/ventura. Well thanks anyway

I had a similar issue with Vsync but it solved itself in the evening, no idea why… But it goes to 50fps because of performance issues. Check your activity monitor and use the CPU usage and CPU history while ingame to check if there are ises.

You didnt play on Tuesday with Ventura on 9.2.7?

Though this issue is mainly on Windows, might be worth a try

Stuttering is being caused by GxAllowCachelessShaderMode feature that’s on by default. It’ll be off by default in a future patch. I don’t recommend turning vsync off, but I do recommend turning GxAllowCachelessShaderMode off if you don’t want to wait.

Add this to your config

SET GxAllowCachelessShaderMode “0”

Hey, I was browsing the forums because of a slightly different issue. M1 Max user for some time and I noticed since the Pre-Patch was deployed I had significantly higher system temperatures (~10c)

Using this setting seems to have kicked my CPU usage down a HUGE margin and my temperatures are back in normal ranges from before 10.0

My question is: Does anyone know what’s up with this setting and why was it changed? I’m wondering if this is just a placebo for my issue as I wasn’t seeing any stuttering, just really high CPU usage.

The GxAllowCachelessShaderMode setting? it was basically an experiment to reduce memory usage of app at expense of worse performance that should never have been on by default (and it’s not on by default anymore in upcoming build)

it’s basically a solution for low memory computers still sitting at only 8gb of ram or something obnoxiously small.

Ah, thank you! That makes sense!
It should be safe to just keep in my Config.wtf but I think WoW keeps resetting that file so I guess I need to go make a macro or something to run in-game until that update is pushed out
