Am i reading this right that this isnt cumulative? If i have a dude at renown 8 and 10 i just remain at 10 on all characters?
If so that is terrible. It should be like the honor level merge and be cumulative on my account.
But then I can just farm rep with 100% gain for 1-10 on an alt to make 11-20 half as much.
How so? Any new char will have the same rep as your main going forward so a character post merge cant do that
If you buy the expansion, you get a level 70 boost that comes with Renown 20 for all Dragonflight Factions except The Dream Warders. So everyone should be getting at least that level when it is released.
Even the $50 package has this.

It would be cheating. You still need to do the grind once.
Stacking all reps wouldn’t make sense. Like they mentioned, some reputation are heavily front-loaded, so you get a lot of rep to reach honored, then must complete a grind to reach exalted. If you just make 10 alts that start at honored really fast and expect it to reach exalted with a merge, it wouldn’t be fair.
Hows it cheating? Renown is 2500 per level i got the mathematical equivalent of 18 split on 2 characters

It has to be this way because otherwise people could cap it just by logging in when a new reknown is introduced. I have 30 level 70s. Most reknown caps are 20 or 25. If it was cumulative, all my toons would technically start at reknown 1, but once I logged into 20 or 25 different toons, I’d be capped because it’d be 1+1+1+1, etc.
Granted, having 30 70s is rare, but the same would apply to any combination. You could have 4 toons, and just need to get each to reknown 5, or any combo to hit 20, if it was cumulative. That’s not their intent.

No, being able to add the same reputation progress would be terrible for past reputations but it will work that way for The War Within. You also have plenty of time to reach maximum reputation with all of the Dragonflight reputations before Warbands are introduced into the live game.
Yea in extreme cases it will do strange things, but the tail shouldnt wag the dog
And for the majority its not going to matter.
For ppl with max renown all their characters will be max renown now anyway.
Since max renown is the cap, who cares if more ppl hit it, especially for a dead xpac’s faction.
Current/past Renown/factions is just a useless time sink anyway that wont impact player progress in tww. It may just impact some achieve grinders

I, the player, earned rep. It should accumulate.
Its literally the warband system so why should past reps be handled differently

That was increased because you have one character at Renown 10.
Because the reputations moving forward are designed with this functionality in mind, past reputations were not.

If in tww the system is account bound rep its not unreasonable to request retroactive application of the same approach. They are acknowledging that rep should be account bound with cumulative progress already.
I understand past rep wasnt designed that way and im saying why does that even matter.
They should Just be consistent vs making arbitrary decisions since it doesnt overall matter if ppl have a cumulative rep. Theyve also done what ive requested in the past with honor level being merged account wide.

I dont like rep frankly. I didnt mind it with the wrath tabard system.
But this xpac i did mostly pvp instead of any pve.
Pvp you get nothing towards anything really.
I grinded out the mole ppl rep for the smelly title and dream rep went quick, but starter faction reps going to 30 renown are meh after you do loremaster. Wqs arent my jam
That’s fair, they really ignore pvp nowadays 
At least there’s a new bg (even if it’s a rehash of some older ones) and they are leaning more into RBGs for rating.
