Party Composition

So one of the things I’m so looking forward to is playing with my IRL friends. I’m privileged enough to have 4 IRL friends that want to play Classic, and I play with them daily. We’ve done some research, and we’ve all made up our minds on what we want to play…

Warrior (Tank), Hunter, Warlock, Druid, Shaman(Healer)

I think our party composition will work perfectly because we’ll all have different professions too that we can bounce off eachother. No matter what BoE greens/blues drop, there could be a need for one of us in the party, AND, we’ll have out own dungeon group!

I personally plan to take 7-10 days off work (summer staycation) to play Classic, and no-life my way to up as close to 60 as possible, given one or two of those days will be dedicated to professions.

What are your plans for your party compositions and launch? Are you also taking vacation time to play?

Having a mage in your party for sheeping is a real advantage, I’ve found.

His group has a warlock, hunter and druid. All have useful CC. I think they’ll be good.

We thought about that, and our thought process is we have a Hunter trap, Hex, Warlock Banish, and Root. My buddy chose warlock over mage because we already have the hex, and lock cookies along with a 2 pets could be more valuable than an int buff and sheeping.

That’s just out thought process, though- obvious pro’s and con’s, but at the end of the day, can you bet how many times we’ll have to wait for someone to get to a dungeon, and summoning will be a life saver? Or when I die 100 times as a tank, and I need to repair, but it only takes us 2 minutes because I hearth (assuming its off cd) and they summ me back?

How do you intend to do both of these things? Or are you talking endgame dungeons only? I personally would think less about PLing to 60 and instead try to keep the 5 players levels close so all the dungeons can be run together.

Unfortunately my job has to bid vacation before the new year. Luckily im in training still and can take leave any time I want. So I’ll be putting in a sokid 2 weeks when they announce it.

I don’t have a group yet. I plan on either joining a guild or putting one together a few months before release. Unfortunately I have no IRL friends that are playing or are interested in a PvP server.

Nah. Not going to use vacation time on leveling. If I use vacation time it’ll be for the PvP grind to warlord.

OK but shaman didn’t have hex in vanilla. They got it in Wrath.

Just tossing that out there. I know people are going to jump on me because it looks like I’m hassling you again but I’m really not. Or I’m trying not to.

I’m talking in general- the entire leveling process, dungeon, questing, everything. My group of friends and I have a similar schedule where we’re able to play for 4-5 hours every evening, and I think that total time waiting for someone to catch up is going to equate to time spent leveling professions/grinding. i’m pretty optimistic!

@Rozen, Heck yeah! 2 weeks?! That’s awesome.

@Dealloc Ahh- using that time for end-game purposes? That’s definitely got some advantages- saving the sprint for the last part of the game rather than the beginning. I also can’t wait for old-style pvp- where the Engineer profession shined it’s brightest, and quirky quest reward items were used!

YOU’RE TOTALLY RIGHT! I so forgot about that- Hmm… perhaps we’ll have to consider that factor…

Mage portals are actually non-trivial when you start talking about quests that are like “go to this continent, then the next one”. Dungeons aren’t all lined up next to each other either. Portals are always available (provided your mage doesn’t run out of reagents), but hearthstones have the one hour cooldown.

Mage instead of Lock.

Taking a week off here too. Alliance this time. We have a group. I will tank, my wife is heals. We have a warlock, a mage, and a hunter in our primary group with around 15 others who also want to play again. A great start for our new guild. Well, in theory. We will see when the time comes who is actually able to play.

Very true- also free water/food too…

Awesome! My fiends and I are rolling Horde after dedicating the majority of our WoW career to Alliance. I think it’ll be a fun, refreshing experience!

/LFG and hoping for the best.

I only have one RL friend who’s coming back for Classic and he’s playing a filthy horde.

Filthy… Horde?

Alliance and their high warhorses… Perhaps you’ll pause long enough during AV to face me on the battle field?!

I’m not stopping for anyone.
I’ll dot you up and run like the little warlock beeatch I am.
I may swing by after to collect an ear though.

You could do preist instead of shaman for mind control. Just mc the first guy till his freinds kill em. Then cc rest snd and tank.

Warrior, priest, mage, rogue, “other” would be my ideal group. Other can be any dps that shows up, probably preferring a hunter if I had a choice.

Of course any group will be fine in classic. It’s not like the dungeons are THAT hard.

That depends a lot on which version of the dungeons they go with. The only thing I ever encountered in the game that was harder than pre-nerf Scholo 5 man was pre-nerf heroic Arcatraz. (note that I didn’t do any mythic+ stuff before dumping Legion because speed running isn’t something I’m overly fond of).

I like your spirit!
