Part 1: The Echoes of a Forgotten Vow ~A Story I Made~

In the shadowed ruins of Lordaeron, where the air hung heavy with the scent of decay, an undead warrior named Kaelthar trudged through the ashen fields. His rusted armor creaked with every step, and the faint glow of his runeblade, Sorrow’s End, cut through the gloom. Once a proud knight of Silvermoon, he now wandered the broken lands as one of the Forsaken, his soul tethered to a cursed existence. But Kaelthar was not driven by the Scourge’s will or the Dark Lady’s commands—he was searching for her.

Elyndra.

His wife, a priestess of the Light, had been taken from him during the fall of Quel’Thalas. They had fought side by side, their love a beacon in the darkness, until the Scourge’s tide swept them apart. Kaelthar had awoken in undeath, his memories fractured, but one truth burned brighter than the rest: Elyndra was out there, somewhere. She too had been raised, her faith twisted into shadow, her light now a flicker in the void.

Rumors had led him to the Plaguelands, where a hooded figure had spoken of an undead priestess who wandered the ruins, healing the forsaken and whispering prayers to a forgotten god. Kaelthar’s hollow heart stirred with hope. He followed the trail, battling Scourge remnants and feral ghouls, his blade singing a mournful dirge with each strike.

As he reached the crumbling chapel of Light’s Hope, a faint hymn reached his ears—a melody he had not heard in decades. His breath caught, though he no longer needed to breathe. There, beneath the shattered stained glass, stood a figure cloaked in tattered robes, her hands glowing with a faint, eerie light.

“Elyndra?” he called, his voice a rasping whisper.

The figure turned, her hollow eyes meeting his. For a moment, time stood still. Then, her lips parted, and she spoke a single word that shattered the silence:

“Kaelthar?”

But before he could step closer, a guttural roar echoed through the chapel. From the shadows emerged a monstrous abomination, its chains rattling as it lumbered toward them. Elyndra’s eyes widened, and she raised her hands, summoning a shield of dark light around herself.

Kaelthar gripped his blade, his resolve hardening. He had found her, but their reunion would have to wait. The battle was far from over.

To be continued…
