If parses didn’t exist they’d just use gearscore. No one cares if you are good. They just want to take people who they think will help them get loot more easily.
Arguably, gearscore is a better metric than parsing because gear is so much more valuable than pressing your keys slightly better.

Your skill is the least important metric in your success in a raid. Your gear, consumes, and buffs are way more important.
The worst player can do better than 50% of everyone else by just having better gear, full consumes, and buffs.
That is why people like you want world buffs. It reduces your skill component so you look better than you are.
