Paragon Leveling

I have been speaking to a few wow buddies, levelling is fine for new players but there really should be something in it for the long time players. There is such a wealth of wasted content in wow that could be made relevant again if the reward structure was there.

I started fleshing out a game idea which I call, for lack of a better term paragon levelling. Essentially you do the normal 1-120 grind (or 1-60 as per shadowlands), then start a quest to relevel from 1 again, this paragon levelling would be disabled in mythic+/raid content (so you can still do your normal guild content) but otherwise would be a new progression path.

Possible rewards would be racial tints, allied races and new paragon only specs or classes (which again do not function in mythic+/raids so there is no need to balance they are purely fun for everyday).

Why not make more stuff for max level instead?

I can see it now: “OMG WTF is with paragon leveling? Blizz just worrying about their time played metrics for their Activision overlord instead of making real content. GG. Blizz used to be a good company.”

… how is this not for max level players?
Also its more content that doesn’t just result in ilvl-flation (bigger numbers tend to break the game), not only is the content already in the game, it is just unused most of the time.
This would provide a reward structure around playing older content that was not just ilvl based. For example paragon leveling through every zone’s major story quest/objective/attunement in TBC to unlock those red felorcs as a racial option.

don’t you have enough endless grinds in the game?

Um, you know Party Sync exist, do you? It give you the oppitunity to relevel through old zones again, even if you are already at level cap, and best part, you can do it with a friend.

While a nice idea, how is this not serviced by achievements or leveling an alt? It doesn’t seem like something Blizzards needs to incentivise. Wanting to level all over with your same character seems something very few people would want to do.

I agree, and I’m an altoholic who loves leveling.

However, paragon caches for older faction reputations might be a nice thing. Or not. (Someone will always complain about “having” to “grind” rep on “outdated” content.)

Locking those rep mounts behind paragons in Legion was the worse thing they did I only got the Surumar carpet because getting rep for the Nightborne was dirt easy and mainly because I was trying to get that invitation for the Llothian Prowler after that I just stopped caring once I got that fox mount.

You could always just go back and do the quests. Not to gain levels, but whatever meager rewards they offer on top of the experience of doing the quest itself.

Or maybe one of the quest-related achievements.

Starting from 1 again and going through a different expansion’s old content is pretty much… Leveling an alt in Shadowlands.
