Pandaren Unable to Tame Cloud Serpents

Am Pandaren Hunter, currently on the quest for Zhao-Ren. When using Beast Lore, I see that he is tamable and I can see his abilities. However when I use “Tame Beast” I get the error message “You do not know how to tame Cloud Serpents.” I thought this was inherently known for the Pandaren race? I have seen a few other posts having issues taming even after using the exalted rep book. Just a bug regarding Cloud Serpents in general?

did you ever find an answer to this I’m looking myself.

The bug as of 4/6/2024 still has not been fixed. Tried today on a fresh Pandaren Hunter.

It appears that Pandaren have been given Tame Undead instead of Tame Cloud Serpent according to this results of using this script.

/run for n,i in next,{BloodB=54753,Gargon=61160,CloudS=62254,Undead=62255,Ottuk=66444,Dragon=72094,Fireowl=78842,Direhorn=138430,Mech=205154,Feather=242155}do print(i<99999 and C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(i) or i>99999 and IsPlayerSpell(i),n)end

That item requires reputation to purchase and shouldn’t be necessary in this scenario. The pandaren should have the innate ability to tame cloud serpents without the book, like undead hunters can tame undead pets without the tome and gnome, mechagnome, and goblin can tame mechanicals without the matrix.

lol. Wait. They start with tame undead? I might have to level one just for the ability to take the undead devilsaurs.

is it meant to be part of their toolset?

Cloud Serpents weren’t tamable when Pandaren were introduced.

Yeah it was added at the same time as the ability to tame them. Here’s the info in the patch notes I found:

“Cloud Serpents are automatically tameable by Pandaren while other races must acquire the How to School Your Serpent Tome after reaching Exalted with Order of the Cloud Serpents”

took me a while to find it… until i re-read your post and discovered it was in a hidden tab.

looking through the rest of this script, it feels like “mech” shouldn’t be in the list either…
