That’s actually disingenuous. If you’re having issues with paladins it’s because you’re catching the class while cooldowns are available. Outside of 5 minute bubbles and our brief bursts of damage the class is slowly slipping downhill.
Paladin is an all or nothing class: either you’re amazing or you’re substandard, and which depends solely on CDs. There are those among the population who don’t like that and want our class to be more consistent because as it stands we could literally wind up in the D tier if our numbers get tuned poorly.
The reason you only ever see paladins as a problem is because you’ll never notice them when they’re not playing to their strengths.
Hpal does have some issues since the 2v2 and 3v3 meta favors their ability to focus heal 1 or 2 targets.

Those threads aren’t about PvP. The “buff Ret” thread starts by linking to PvE damage ranking, and the “Holy Paladin is trash” thread was recently necroed from back in December, which was itself a response to even earlier (and in hindsight, clearly wrong) predictions that SL Holy would be a weak spec across the board.

Nah, it just requires the entire enemy team to run into your AoE blind, while all your cooldowns are visibly up, and then not trinket or use any defensives. That is, after all, what happens in the video that he’s referring to.
Just like a warrior can in principle Warbreaker + Spear + Bladestorm the whole enemy team to death, but if they let the warrior do it and have no counterplay, they deserve whatever happens to them.

Looking at it completely objectively, to figure out if theyy are OP we have to look at the competition, other melee DPS.
Arms Warrior - Maybe the most OP of all the melee specs between sustain damage, burst and defensive capability.
Rogues - Insane damage and control.
Enhance - I’ve heard they are super strong in the right hands and do insane burst but i dont have much experience with them.
Feral - Extremely good right now. Maybe not “meta” but a good feral is still a wrecking ball.
DK - On the weaker side. Has a place at the very top level of PVP but only due to synergy with other classes that carry most of the load. Solid utility though.
Windwalker - Insane. Just…Insane.
DH - On the weaker side. Can meme with the Hunt ability but overall small burst window and squishy.
SV Hunter - Eh. Im sure a good one can do pretty well but overall on the weaker side.
Ret Paladin - INSANE mongo burst with cd’s, Good self sustain and defensives.
Overall almost all melee this expac are scary scary scary. But the question remains, is Ret OP? I mean, i’d put them fourth overall behind warriors, rogues and windwalkers in the grand scheme of competitive play currently and i do think their burst is right on the line of being a little too stupid but all in all i wouldnt say they are overpowered. If a ret one shot’s someone in competitive play, every team will say they could have something different to avoid it.

You’re the one making claims that we can do things we can’t do (one shot an entire 3s team), so, no, you’re definitely the biased one. Stop overexaggerating, it makes your arguments look weak and pathetic. If you have actual grievances I’m all too happy to hear them, but when you start telling blatant lies, I’m not going to sit idly by and let it happen uncontested. Keep your complaints within the realm of reality.

This isn’t actually possible unless you’re in zero vers and win the RC casino but I will say yeah I’m fine with them being great in 3’s. It’s nice to be strong and desirable in some aspect of the game especially if the trade-off is being middle of the road/not as desirable as sexier classes in another aspect of it.
Definitely can argue it’s biased of me to say I’m fine with it that way but there you go.

Yes! I in fact have roughly 18 DKs of various levels, and a shaman and hunter as well. I primarily play paladin because this toon has been my main since Burning Crusade launched.
We have A heal, yes. That needs to be addressing.
Our immunities are on a 5 minute CD
we have 1 slow/root immunity
we have a 3 second sprint on a 45 second CD. That’s it.
If you play a paladin seriously you’ll realize that our specc is built around burst windows. Outside of that you hit like a wet noodle.
Paladins have no reliable defensives outside of bubbles, we have lackluster DPS outside of our burst windows, we are one of the single most CC susceptible classes in the game and that goes doubly for slow/roots.
You don’t know paladins, you simply die when you decide to facecheck one with CDs up. And rather than learning how to deal with the class you resign yourself to paladins being “overpowered” and do nothing to improve at the game.

Most pro players rank ret as top 5 specs. some as top 3. And holy as best or 2nd best healer.
