Paladins taunt Which one are they going for the last or the 1st in eration

Does anyone know what’s going on with the paladin tanh in the Beta?

I’m not in the Beta myself but I have seen a lot of people that are in it and I habit have some friends that are on it.

Because Initially paladins time righteous defense doesn’t actually taunt mobs You have to target a player specific.

However this was updated much later on I don’t know the exact patch I think it was 2.40 I believe.

However after that patch you could also target mobs as well as players so which design are they going with Because they said all talents in spells were going to be at 2.43.

Ennaration so is this a glitch or is this not a glitch because from all the people I’ve seen use it it doesn’t seem to be working so I was just wondering Because there’s a very big difference between the 2.

I mean if you ask me I want the last version of it By just my thought anyway I was just wondering?

Its semi-irrelevant as you can use a TargetTarget macro to make both versions work by targeting only the mob in question.

Thanks for saying this Raven. I could have sworn back in the day that is exactly what I did. I simply taunted through the target to his target.

Glad I was not dreaming that

2.4.3 version it’s looking like. And as above ya need a targettarget macro and it’s effective.

You can do similar right now in Classic with BoP I have found and in TBC that’s like almost having 2 taunts. It’s super strong.

Btw to answer OP, I just tested it and it seems like the non-macroed version works on target of target as well.

I’m completely aware back in the day that people used a macro for target of the target what I’m wanting to know do you need to make that macro?.

Because either way that does matter like if I don’t have to make a macro for it in my opinion It makes it more versatility.

Think about it because if you’re only using it to taunt of the target of the target and not just beyond the target the target individually.

That’s limited use however if you can target one mob specifically that all of a sudden makes it more viable for raid tanking.

Ed increases your single target threat over all that’s a really big difference because that’s one of protection paladins biggest weaknesses in raid tanking they don’t have a way To regain that agro if they lose it.

I mean they don’t have like that burst threat they have it with judgment yes but it’s not get a to hold anything towards a taunts.

I mean if I can taunt judgment concentrate that’s a lot of threat A Warrior can, Taunt, Thunderclap, And Demoralizing shout.

Say what I’m saying that’s a big difference so that’s why I’m asking about this because it’s a really big difference if.

You have to use a macro or not because if it does if you don’t Prop paladins all this and become a lot more viable for Raid tanking as in single target tanking.

This functionality of righteous defense was not changed during BC. That was in Wrath. In all of BC it functioned how it does now in the beta. The target of the taunt is your party member.

With the target of target macro it functions like a warrior taunt.

Taunt places you at the top of the threat table the moment you use it. If you are already at the top before you use it…it does nothing. That is true for warrior, druid or paladin.

Taunts are not threat builders to be used on cooldown.

You can make one macro that can target the mob or the player with the conditionals (hostile, targettarget) (friendly) for Righteous Defense.

Its actually superior to a normal taunt or at least more versatile.

Like I said before in this thread already hevin, you can use it right now in beta without the macro. Without the macro it functions if you’re targeting the enemy targeting your ally, and it also works if you’re targeting your ally directly.
