Not sure what changes were made between the PTR and now but it really feels like Ret Paladin DPS fell off somewhere.
Personally, I haven’t been having too much issue with how much DPS I do in raid and i haven’t explored PvP much recently so I can’t say for sure how that translates in that realm.
That being said, according to the logs Ret paladins are barely doing more DPS than Rogue/Warlock tanks which seems to have been a trend since phase 1 and frankly is a real downer when other classes are doing almost twice as much DPS regardless of DPS spec.
The way I’m seeing it on the class balance charts is that Ret is literally at risk of falling into the category of “abandoned specs” like Arms Warriors, Arcane Mages, Beast Mastery Hunters, and Subtlety rogues.
Paladins will probably start climbing up the logs once they start getting their 4 set bonus. That stuff is JUICY
lmao, nah. We’ll never be the best, or even probably top third dps, but we’re still plenty viable in pvp and pve.
We also bring Horn of Lordaeron to the table now, and since it only goes to your party, every raid wants at least two Ret Paladins for their melee/tank groups to be spamming Horn throughout each boss fight. Not to mention the rest of our utility.
I guess it also depends what logs you are looking at. The overall boss damage comparison isn’t always the best one to gauge that. For instance, fights like Vael warriors are going to do insane damage and this is going to inflate their overall damage. I think the best bet would be to pick a fight like firemaw where it’s single target/patchwerklike in nature, then compare Ret to other melee classes. Right now they are definitely behind, but lets at least wait for a month or so for tier to fall into play, then reassess.
They removed poisons and curse buffing all magic damage. It was buffing holy damage by 31%. It needs increase all none physical damage again. They removed it buffing holy damage. Makes no sense. Ret is now bottom tier dps.
