Can’t we all agree that every talent tree possible for paladin even the best give less power and utility than every other classes talent trees ?
As the one who makes the guides for prot paladin in pvp, I can’t really tell people that the builds i make will make them stronger, clearly they will only compensate for the nerfs that came with prepatch with no additional buffs. And I also have to sadly tell them that there is literally no change to the gameplay because your using the same talents with additions of multiple talents that you used to have to choose and swap depending on situation or literally the same thing in a torghast as we could have the same talents with anima powers, which makes them feel like it’s redondant and I agree with that. In my case, nothing feels new with how they have forced our hands to pick talents because they clearly aren’t worth the same and there are clear advantages to pick certain routes over others because they perform better at everything. So I just make this post to say I’m actually free to talk with the devs for paladin to help on how to better the situation. I have made multiple posts on fixes and ameliorations to principally prot paladin as it’s been the same for about 5 years since the middle of legion.
You’re talking specifically about PvP?
I would not be qualified to comment on PvP.
In PvE, paladins have a pretty good toolkit imho.
AoE silence (Divine Toll), interrupts for days, B-rez, Blessing of Sacrifice, BoP, off-heals…
Holy does get to use Avenging crusader with awakening, and also reckoning aura in pvp. It chugs through mana like hell but outputs so much healing you can actually get in and melee. Holy at least feels like it can push the melee healing style much more in pvp, though I’m also a rando bg scrub.
At least for messing around in random pvp, holy feels like a melee healer.
Same thing as the past 3 expansions. Would be nice to have like we used to, nuances and changes to our specs like other classes are getting. Their rotation changes, we keep the same talents and everything because all the new stuff sucks or it’s just shadowlands covenant stuff.
What is the key to being successful as a prot paladin in pvp? It’s so rare for me to see the spec that I wonder why that is? High learning curve maybe?
Basically just a gimmick. It’s not that Prot can’t work in PvP, it’s that by comparison to Guardian it’s a poor choice. It shows up in arenas from time to time, but even then the enemy team will just dive your partner and burn you out.
No because tanks in pvp is heavily looked down upon by the community.
It is always considered extremely scummy to be a tank in pvp.
People don’t understand when I tell them it’s the hardest spec to master in the game, because literally I am the only one able to do as much dmg as a ret as prot. Prot has the potential to 1v2 and do everything that every other spec can do, but it only depends on wel optimised and built you are.
I don’t give two shots about pvp. But in pve all the paladin specs are performing just fine.
In raid prot paladin lacks a lot of dmg. Its aoe focused design ruins the performance in single target dmg.
