Paladins are by the worst dps only beating aug. When people keep seeing stuff like this makes it take forever to get groups. I was trying to pug heroic even though I have aotc, spent like 4 hours applying for groups before getting in one.
If its doing something like M+ I done way more keys as tank since its nobody wants paladin dps. But for raids you really only have 2 tank slots and most of the time they are already filled so its easier to apply as dps.
Ret paladins are the second most invited melee dps spec in 20+ keys, just behind Havoc. You can view this on raider io.
I personally always try to invite a ret dps. I to have a problem getting an invite. This isn’t because hunters are bad, this is because there are so many of us quing up. You are running into this same problem.
In +20 keys ret makes up 9.7%, BM hunter 12.5%, HDH 12.9%. So your in the top 3 of dps invited.
A tale as old as time. We ret mains have known pain and suffering this is nothing new to us. (I play all 3 specs and enjoy all 3 specs before some smart alek tells me to respec)
Hello! I see you have included two different complaints in your post. According to your source, Retribution Paladins are only at the bottom of the meters at the 95th percentile of Mythic raiders. If you scroll down and view the overall statistics, you will see that Retribution Paladins are doing just fine overall, and are even beating out all three Mage specs in terms of average performance!
But even that is irrelevant, considering that person who produced your source explicitly stated that it provides an incomplete picture of balance. As a result, I do not see any reason to buff Retribution Paladins based on the information you have provided.
If you have AotC and still struggle to get accepted into heroic groups, it most likely means that the group already has either too many melee specs, or too many Retribution Paladins. Either way, you can guarantee your own acceptance into a raid group by starting it yourself! Happy raiding!
I hate it when people think classes need buffed but cite statistics like this. Mythic raiders are more or less the cream of the crop, the best of the best, etc. Most players are NOT that good, now if paladins were doing poor over all or in a lower percentile, one closer to middle of the pack, then yeah they could use buffs.
I am ret for most of my guilds raiding and I am often among the top DPS for the group as ret, but we only raid normal and heroic (AOTC guild most of the time) so I don’t feel like I need buffs as much as refinement.
If a spec is getting or has gotten a rework mid-expansion, it was always released in some hilariously overpowered state.
Ret killed PvP for two weeks that season and was dominant in raid for a week or so, Shadow’s 10.1 rework left it a bit overtuned and we’re paying for that by being borderline-unviable in M+ right now after they obliterated our damage and our utility, Fire and Frost were hilariously broken when 10.1.5 hit, Guardian was hilariously broken when 10.1.5 hit, HPal was hilariously broken when 10.1.5 hit, Augmentation was added in 10.1.5 and has been ruining the game ever since, and all Rogue specs, Havoc, and BM Hunters got reworked in 10.2 (and you’ll never guess what the best specs in the game are right now).
If your spec is getting a rework, you can pretty much guarantee that you’ll be overpowered for several weeks, if not the rest of the season, and then you’ll get obliterated the next season.
