Paladin vs hunter

I’m getting back into wow and I cant seem to decide whether to main a paladin or hunter. I never really raided or did arenas which is what I want to focus more into this xpac. Between these two I’m trying to figure out which one is better for being engaged in the gameplay but isn’t also too complex for me to learn and get down for my first main.

Mechanics will be easier as a ranged hunter and they are currently better at pve. And decent in pvp. Except BM, don’t play BM in pvp.

SL is really not that melee friendly.
Hunters are present in every M+. Rets are rare. Their damage can be underwhelming as well.
I leveled ret to 60 and they feel quite squishy.

Both hunter and paladin have generated many PvP horror stories this expansion.

On the upside, all 3 Paladin specs are strong in some form of content (in fact, I think all 3 are good at pvp right now?) you will likely pick from kyrian or venthyr, maaaybe night fae later in expansion

Holy is great for raiding, m+, pvp (I think)
Ret is great for pvp (or was recently?) not sure about pve.
Prot was silly strong in pvp but may see some tuning. Decent at raids and ok at m+

Hunter is also pretty good at most forms of content but you will have to go marksman, and likely night fae. Bm and survival are a bit of a joke in comparison.

Hunter is far easier than Paladin; however, Paladin offers melee dps, healer, and tank specializations.

Ret paladin does great in both PvE and PvP (though his rotation is complicated). Holy paladins do well in PvP, and protection paladins are amazing right now in both PvE and PvP.

Hunter is much easier to play, and currently has 3 specs which feel very different from each other.

I’d say to try out Hunter first. Once you get into the game more, you can always level a Paladin as an alt. This expansion is bound to be very alt-friendly.

what level are your pally and hunter? cuz BM and SV are harder to play than ret is. and MM is about on par.

Hunter if you want a solid, relatively strong DPS ranged class (MM).
Paladins are good in terms of flexibility so if you want to play multiple roles, pick this.
