I’m planning to play a paladin when classic releases for the nostalgia factor, since that’s what I played in my brief stint on classic back in the day.
I mostly enjoy the solo leveling experience, just doing quests on my own as I encounter them. Which paladin spec is going to give me the easiest time for this style of play?
Hm, if you don’t mind going slow go into holy for AOE and then prot for defensiveness and getting whacked on = mobs taking dmg. Then respec at about 50 for reckoning if they allow / sit bug.
Retribution will give you some offensive potential early on until you can do a Holy Shield/Consecration AoE build as you get closer to 60.
You can go Consecration early on, but it’ll be slower going since you wont have the reflective damage of the Protection tree.
Some of this is also dependent on if sitting to force a crit on yourself will proc Reckoning and Redoubt. It primarily worked in Vanilla due to server lag, so we’re not sure if it’ll work in Classic.
Your healing tree will out dps your dps tree with shockadin build
By the time you can do Shockadin, the AoE build will out do that for world content.
Log out
delete paladin
create literally anything else.
Still do better.

So basically both the healing tree and the tanking tree will out dps the Paladin dps tree.
Yep, ret was that broken
Shockadin build also A. will run itself out of mana 10 times faster and B. Is dependent on a private server build actually being legit in order to out DPS Retribution.
The tanking tree only wins on DPS when it’s in AoE and all the mobs are hitting the Paladin.
I know being bitter about hybrids in Classic is your thing, but you really should have your information right =P
You can @me when you get to 60 and realize you do less damage then feral. We will have them modern raid logs for classic by then so pin this.

I already played this Paladin to 60 in Vanilla and raided into AQ40 as 20/0/31.
I’m well aware of what kind of damage output Retribution has.

Netflix as well, The problem is you’re not only slow, but you’re also pretty safe killing a pally PVE wise is such a pain for mobs i bet.

Engineering is also your best friend leveling. Make sure to keep leveling it with you.
Ret till like 30+ switch to Prot and put on shield spike. Aoe grind and your Good to go.
Hope you don’t plan on /sit to win cheesing because its confirmed to not work
I remember holy paladins being much better for leveling in classic wow because of concencration and holy shock. Ret was a trap, it took too long to build up your dps so it wasn’t good for general questing and mob killing.
Holy gave you more direct damage attacks and reduced your TTK and that’s what I stuck with until Wrath came out when they finally did add more attacks to ret like divine storm.

The thing about the shockadin build is that it’s very mana hungry and you’ll be left drinking after virtually every fight.
It might kill things a bit faster, but Ret can go longer without downtime. It’s worth remembering that leveling speed isn’t purely about TTK on mobs but rather also about how often you have to stop to drink/eat/bandage.
In terms of questing at high levels, Prot beats both of them because of AoE reflective damage and it being tanky.
Edit: There’s also Reckoning that people are bringing up, but that’s reliant on /sit actually working in Classic.
