Paladin rework: Tanky, Mobile, Bursty

You can only pick two.

And I don’t think mobility should be one. Paladins jumping all over the place would be the worst idea ever.

I’d take tanky and bursty. Spatial awareness goes a long way with Divine Steed when spec’d into it. I know, I know. People hate Divine Steed, but to each their own.

We don’t need to…

Give us a toolkit comparable to DKs and we’d be just fine.

But to play devil’s advocate, why don’t warriors sacrifice one for two?

I’d pick tanky and mobile. I’d rather have solid consistent damage that provides pressure than a 1 trick bursty spec.

I’d prefer 65% of everything over 100% of 2 things. Ideally we’d be 75pts tank, 50pts mobile, and 45pts steady damage with 30pts burst.

Well blizzard have straight up said it’s not going to be mobile or bursty.

Mobility idc about. I’ve played ret for a long long time, and if you want mobility it’s just not the class for you. Additionally mobility doesn’t fit the theme at all: heavily armored knights with tons of terms/aethetics borrowed from the knights of medieval Chistendom. Bliz is doing the right thing by buffing mobility to a degree but not making the spec fast.

I choose:
Tanky. It needs to be tanky. That’s the whole point, and it’s strange the spec is squishy.

and Bursty.

This change to a more “sustained damage” style spec is going to be TRASH. It sounds nice, but remember… Bliz isn’t buffing rets damage here. They are buffing it’s “sustained damage”

What’s that mean? Flattening the curve. It means they buff abilities like Crusader Strike, which will always make us yawn, and nerf abilities like Avenging Wrath and Wake of Ashes.

Idc for mobility. I want my pally tank to be Nice and tanky with good damage like warrior tank is.

I dont advocate for nerf of Warrior tanks. I want to bring my Paladin tank Up and close to warriors.

And yes, I hear you 2.5k+ IO people saying,“its not bad at all. If anything its better than before.”
Better than before doesnt mean as good as Warrior tanks.
I want all tanks to be close to each other when it comes to survival and Damage.
They are Tanks, their main job is to take hits and survive. Not pull big dps numbers.
If dps IS to be a big part of being tank then buff my dps too.
I say this for all tanks , not just paladin tanks.

Warriors are mobile but squishy.
DKs are immobile but tanky.

Paladins needs to be somewhere in between.

Right now, the issue is, Ret feels more like a less mobile rogue, then a slightly tankier warrior.
