Paladin or Monk?

Hi guys,

I’ve been wanting to have a tri-hybrid class as my main for DF since I enjoy flex healing/tanking, but the past week I’ve been unsure whether to stick with the Paladin or level the Monk as well.

Paladin is max level and has some profession and reputation progress already, which will take several weeks to catch up on the hypothetical monk. However, I find Holy Paladin to be a bit goofy currently (see: struggling to heal a group beyond M0 with ilvl 366 gear) and I have more experience with Monk overall from Shadowlands.

I also like the class fantasy of Paladin better, but like the gameplay of Monk a bit more.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I’m also aware that Monk falls behind Paladin in almost every regard, but fun and long-term playability exceeds current viability in my opinion

Monk. I like the class fantasy of Paladin better too, but monk imo is better all around, and extremely mobile. So, while yea looking at the character is important, how the character plays is more important to me.

Paladin has 1 spec that is decent and thats holy. The other 2 are outshined by everything else besides monk side of tanking.

Monk only has DPS as a good spec. The other 2 are outshined by druid/holy priest/holy paladin and veng DH/prot war and guardian druid.

So I’d say neither. Just play a druid.

No, because you can’t be a Dwarf.

paly tank >monk, wwmonk>ret, mw monk>hpal pvp (flip pve)
SO far flipping through my toons paly tank and ww monk are the least goofed up with talents.

Major truth…

Mobility of all Monk specs>Mobility of all Paladin specs. It’s not just what’s the best performing.

As someone who plays monk Pally probably will feel better to jump between specs. Every monk spec plays differently or has a special twist to it. Like stagger / soothing mists / combo strikes.

If you want to put the time in to master each monk is great.

If you want a tri-spec that you will be able to switch specs comfortably without hundreds of hours of each paladin.

Depends if you spec into torpedo or not tbh double tap charger same sprint distance/speed monk slight bump since its most blink style directional.

Oh I have no problem with that, I played a ton of Monk in BfA and SL, and have a pretty decent grasp on all their goofiness.

Well than I would prefer monk. Brew is abit weak right now but still useable if you’re not trying to push +25keys and Cutting edge.

Ret Paladin feels much slower as a dps, but MAN those crazy crits are fun to watch. Windwalker almost feels like you’re playing a rythm game, and is really cool.

Prot Paladin feels like a tank, healer, and dps combined. Probably my favorite tank in the game. Brewmaster is very mobile, plays like a dps, but if you’re healer goes down, you don’t have the support utility for your group that Prot does.

Holy and Mistweaver are both great. I love running the double beacon build in raids as holy, and I also really enjoy the double soothing mist build as mistweaver. As far as healers are concerned, just pick the lore you like better.

All in all, just pick something you like and have fun! If you don’t plan on being a Mythic raider, then the difference in the healer classes is pointless to worry about.

BM bonus is the ox statue great for LOS pulls etc.

I would probably go Paladin of the two. If you don’t mind skill ceilings, monk is definitely worth a gander. I personally prefer druid for the fact it has all 4 types-- Tank, Melee Dps, Range Dps, and Healing.

Alright I thought we told you old gods stop trying to recruit paladins into your furry cults.

pulls out shredder yep let me find that complaint box for you. giggles

You want furry cults? Go talk to the Druids.

I have a feeling Brewmaster is due for a nice buff.

If it does get one, then Monk will be incredibly well rounded.

Paladin needs a lot of help atm besides Holy which is ok.

Not the uwu dragons? :stuck_out_tongue:

Something about Majordomo Selistra makes me sad.
