So I saw on wowhead that paladin was getting all its range that it gets from talents removed. This is going to feel awful to play. Its not like they are giving paladin any more mobility to compensate for losing this. Why remove the range increasing talents?
First of all I don’t want to hear anyone complaining about Paladins having a lack of range, all of your attacks can be performed from range.
They announced they were bringing all melee classes in line with each other in terms of the default melee range and deleting most of if not all talents that increase that range.
It’s not just Pallies.
So a melee is gonna actually be a melee again? Good.
Have a link to the article? I would like to read it.
So… paladins don’t throw hammers anymore and warriors can’t chuck their weapon at someone in a fit of rage? Wonder how they’re planning to do that to DK given most of DK abilities got range to them like death coil or death grip
Yeah, all they have is two charges of the horse, hand of freedom, bubble, and multiple ranged spells! How will they cope?!
I remember when pallies were buffed early in dragonflight while evoker were still struggling with bad talent design and I was losing fights in PvP against pallies who just spammed their ranged abilities and did more damage than I could survive, despite them never getting close to me. This is long overdue.
Pallies should lose the horsie and have it replaced with a wheelchair. If they want to go faster, they should have to do a questline at the local hospital to upgrade the nurse that pushes them.
They better not remove my Monk’s dash talent with tiger palm.
I looked and i think it’s gone
I did see they are getting a kind if air dash though. I think it’s like after you roll you can jump, then jump again to air dash. Or some such. I saw it in a video. Looked cool.
Read carefully when you wanna refer to something
Paladins remain a 20y range “melee”, which is absurd enough already, they ain’t losing that
They are only losing the extra 3y on melee and abilities, talent node, which was useless to begin with nowadays (yes yes someone will argue it was important but seriously go touch grass, no other melee can maintain DPS from 20y consistently)
I don’t want a separate button to press. I hate button bloat.
There’s 0 reason for Blizzard to do this.
This. It’s not ranged abilities themselves that are going - otherwise that would actually break certain things. There are a handful of quests and even old raids that a warrior literally could not do without Heroic Throw.
It’s talents that increase the range of melee abilities that are going.
It’s not an extra button. Unless you don’t already have your roll or jump button hotkeyed.
Yes, this is why I’m not fond of Annihilator being removed. I hate Raging Blow (especially since it isn’t the “mighty blow” its tooltip claims it is, much like how Shield Slam and Lava Burst were similarly gutted) and am perfectly happy with how my spec plays now.
It’s a separate one from Tiger Palm. I want my Dash that rushes me to my target.
That Air Dash sounds like roll/torpedo… Which doesn’t do that.
Me too. I wasn’t considering that air dash as a replacement. Just as its own thing that also looks cool.
I really hope Blizzard reconsiders, cuz if my Windwalker loses that Dash I will just refuse to play the class.
You can agree or disagree with the change, but that’s the written explanation by Bolas the Retribution Paladin guy of Wowhead.
The other classes are also losing their passive melee range extending abilities. Which, I can kinda agree with. I play Outlaw so I know perfectly well just how broken these passive range extensions are because they make it so you simply don’t have to care about certain mechanics. It becomes very much so “I can hit you but you can’t hit me” situation in a lot of cases because of it.
Not to mention it messed up things in regards to movement abilities, whether trinkets or talents. Because should you put a character in melee range, extended melee range, hitbox range, etc.
These are all small things on paper but having played with them I have learned they are a MASSIVE damn deal! And that’s why they are changing them, so they make more sense and don’t break quite so many things.
One can argue whether those things being broken are a good or a bad thing (see the various melee-range whirlwind mechanics in M+ for an example), but they are breaking the mechanics. Which is why on at least a design level, the changes makes sense.
Less fun to play… Class is a 20y “melee” ffs, they can’t come crying for 3 extra yard and expect sympathy
