lightforged mechanostrider would go hard actually tho.
Lorewise, My thoughts on the Following combos.
Orc Paladins: Someone in this topic already came up with a great answer for them, and likewise I think having them be dedicated to Lo’gash could work, so hilariously there’s actually alot of room here to work with.
Trolls: Pick a Loa, maybe even make them Bwonsamedi Warriors. Death Paladins. That’d be neat.
Forsaken: I think the Forsaken talking to the Arathi how those Arathi renegades rose undead with Light might lead to something there.
Goblins: Make them Shamanic in nature, Like Ones who TRULY take their Contracts with the Spirits seriously. I REALLY don’t want it to be a goofy “Haha, Paladins of Gold.”.
Pandaren: Warriors of the Celestials, it’s that easy. Pandaren could talk about the Sunwalkers and Paladins with the Celestials and the Celestials could go “Hol’ Up, I think we can do something with that.”.
Night Elves: Warriors of Elune, that easy (If you wanna be goofy, you could also have the Druid of the Flame Defectors learn from the Dark Iron how to Paladin. And Vice Versa for Druids of the Dark Iron. And Shaman for Night Elves. Really with those defectors and the Dark Iron, you could do ALOT lorewise.).
Worgen: Druidic Paladins not unlike the Tauren. Maybe Goldrinn Warriors (Basically EXACTLY my idea for the Orc ones. Shockingly works for 2 races.).
Gnomes: Their Agnostic so…I have no bloody idea. Thematically they are kinda incompatible (And don’t bring up the new Oathsword version from Tabletops, that was cowardice.).
Kul’Tiran: A branch of the Thornspeakers that are martial, cribbing from the Tauren’s Idea again. Or Paladin of the Sea, Water Paladins.
Void Elves: Unless Blizzard starts adding visual differences for each ability and race, This combo also doesn’t make any sense.
Mechagnomes: See Gnomes.
Mag’Har: See Orcs, or maybe some Light Worshiping Orcs who didn’t agree with Yrel, there’s a few ideas here.
Highmountain: Paladins of Huln or just become Sunwalkers. Surprisingly easy here.
Nightbourne: There’s a few different ways this could be done. They learn from the Blood Elves and Basically are just Blood Knights. Maybe something with Arcane or the Arcandor or something, I dunno, this one is kinda tricky.
Vulpera: They follow the Loa same as the Trolls, just make them Paladins of their Loa.
Dracthyr: That’s…a Question. I have no idea. Maybe use Tyr for them?
Or lets make it simple.
All races:
Lore: Tyr’s guard
That’s a Copout.
Well id rather take a copout than wait 5 years for individual paladin lore for the remaining races
No. In fact less races should have pallys.
Should be reduced to the original 4.
Originally there were only two races with pallys: Humans and Dwarves, and no horde races at all.
Draenei and Blood elves came later with BC prepatch.
Paladins for fewer races. It should be humans only, to be honest
I still cannot wrap my head around this type of statement, especially when Forsaken already have holy priests. not too mention the npc Forsaken Paladin already in game: Sir Zeliek
If there can be one, there could be more.
Im excusing the blood knights, who arent true pallys for the sake of throwing the horde a bone.
Man I want to be able to use glyphs to customize spell animations to lean into racial lore so badly.
Imagine a void elf paladin with blue spells and a starcursed consecration?
any race that has both holy priest and a warrior should have a paladin.
Less races should have priests as well.
Or restricted to shadow priests.
Orcs
Forsaken
Gnomes
Trolls
Races that can’t look down and read a holy book, because their face has a giant nose… can’t be paladins
Of course this is all silly because we KNOW that additional races as Paladins will be Tyr’s Guard affiliated and Silver Hand adjacent.
Basically instead of the story being
“These races found their own cultural access to the power of a Paladin”
it will be
“Some people from these races joined the Silver Hand/Tyr’s Guard and became Paladins”
As priests but not as paladins. This reason doesn’t hold water.
Same thing could be said about the Forsaken.
Blizzard stated their goal was to let all races be all classes eventually, but they have to write the lore to make it make sense (and build all the assets too).
so the holy spells from holy priests are a different aspect of holy versus paladins spells? quite a few of them are the same spell, with same effects just tagged with a different name
Kinda does, though, if you really think about it. They don’t have to wield it in exactly the same way Humans and Dwarves do, but they can wield both blade and light. It’s a functional equivalent situation. I think Sunwalkers were originally a branch of druidism. Blood Elves straight-up stole the Light from a Naaru. Zandalari Paladins got their powers from Loa. Through that, all races that have priests and warriors can justify having paladins.
