Paladin Class Fantasy Revamp

Can we all agree the class fantasy for herald of the sun could be so much better?

Blizzard, what are the odds you can improve the class fantasy of this hero talent?

Even with the new buffs incoming for herald, it still won’t make it competitive, and even it was the class fantasy of the hero talent is really underwhelming.

Improve it please! Like this post if you agree!

  • Blessing of An’She - Your damage and healing over time effects have a chance to become An’Shes Wrath, increase the damage of your next Hammer of Wrath by 200% usable on any target, regardless of their health.
  • An’Shes Wrath - turns Hammer of Wrath into a beam of pure radiant energy applying Dawnlight and linking you to the target for 8 seconds.

Templar gets Hammer of Light, Herald gets An’Shes Wrath.

I think HoW is insanely outdated visually and turning it into a friggen “Sun Laser of Radiant Fire” would be cool as hell and hit pure dopamine of class fantasy just like how Hammer of Light is.

I’m the Herald of the Sun, shooting sun beams should be a thing.

I think they should fully embrace Sun’s Avatar as the main gimmick instead of Dawnlight and update the visual, the beam could really have more texture and grit to it.

I think it should be de-paired from Wake, it was a mistake to have both hero spec have it as a trigger.
It should still have a role in the Hero Spec, such as being affected by some talents.

Blessing of Anshe is the second thing they should keep with eternal flame, the rest can kind of go.

They could re-center it around our main CD AW, in a manner that makes it clear that you should leave out Radiant Glory.

It’s ok to have a 30sec gameplay option but I’ve never felt better than with DF 1min AW.

I think ret needs in total a fantasy rework.

But i will agree with ben that, at least for ret, wake shouldn’t had activated both hero specs.

Eternal flame should be in the class tree though.

And while sun’s avatar is cool, herald would also need some more gimmicks to play with. Maybe they could give us a hp spender on cool-down to summon the sun’s fire to burn the target and put a DoT/HoT mechanic on the target instead of dawnlight kinda like how deathbringer has reaper’s mark (minus the way it stacks via damage, put a different mechanic to it)

Maybe HotS needs to not be another DPS spec but something else, it could be the hero spec that specialized in raid utilities for example.

Activating AW for example could also trigger a mech that allows that Paladin to radiate with Holy enegry ala the Sun and then they could play around that. For example providing a short burst of dmg reduction around 80% for 4 secs.

Or make your freedom raid wide. Or your Eternal Flame has no cost and up to 3 and each time the Flame runs out, it reignite with +50% in another Smart target for up to X time and up to Y total Flame jumps.

Perhaps another CD that makes you pulse dmg or healing each time you use sth from HoTS tree.

Sun being the centre of our system, that concept can be used in the Hero tree to produce something a bit more unique.

Doesn’t it already cover that with the off-healing dawnlight gives out?

Maybe buff that if that is the goal?

Still I think herald needs to reimagined entirely

(This is Greatbrae btw)

Kinda like the holy explosion effect we had back in sl/bfa during wings?
I do miss that effect, was really cool.

DP kinda covers that no?

herald of the sun
row one
dawnlight: casting wake of ashes causes your next 2 holy power spending abilities to apply dawnlight on your target, dealing 500% sp radiant damage (used to be 255% sp) or healing over 8 seconds.

16% of damage and healing radiates to nearby allies or enemies. reduced beond 8 targets

can only be extended once

row 2
morning star: each build provides a different buff to you (Depends on spec) boj increases your crit by 5%, judgement increases mastery, csaa/ts/cs increases haste (csaa increases haste by half compared to ts and cs) each buff lasts 5 seconds, they overlap by 3 seconds before the newest buff replaces the old buff. (behold seals)./ gleaming rays, while your dawnlight is active your spenders deal 5% more damage and healing, lasts as long as the dawnlight.

eternal flame unchanged

luminosity, critical strike chance of how and all spenders increased by 10% all st spenders are now radiant damage

row 3
illumine/will of the dawn are unchanged

blessing of an’she is unchanged frankly cause its the only good thing in the tree. / lingerin radiance dawnlight leaves an eternal flame for 6 seconds on allies or leaves a a new dot called dawnspark on enemies (dawnspark takes the last 3 ticks of dawnlight and leaves it on the target as adot for 6 seconds.) everytime it expires or it extends. (yay mroe dots for more synergies

sunsear, is unchanged but buffed considerably

row 4
second sunrise, divine storm and hammer of wrath and final verdict have a chance to leave a dot on the target dealing 50% of their damage over 5 seconds as radiant damage.

solar grace is unchanged

aurora is unchanged

suns avatar

during avenging wrath you become linked to your dawnlight, casusing 50% sp radiant dam to enemies that pass through it. reduced beyond 8 targets. each spender used in this time causes your dots to flare up annd explode doing their tick damage instantly and 50% of its tick damage to every target around them. every spend used during avenging wrath causes your suns avatar to collect a portion of all flared up dot damage and unleashes it on the primary target once sunavatar ends.

there suns avatar but good, it has more positive synergies encourages the use of TS and all radiant talents and frankly tis still probably not as strong as templar in its current state.

gg if its to strong in aoe, then cpa it back at 5 and reduce the cleave explosion damage. gg

we shouldnt unpair wake from herald, i dont see why

I mean, do it in a way that can be used in party/raid wide setting. For example, when you cast 1 Eternal Flame during AW, 8 Eternal Flame goes out to your party/raid (8 is just a numerical example) after which they jump around and reignite in other targets after they expires etc etc.

It’s just a random example of how i think Herald could possibly be the new ‘‘support’’ spec without altering it’s current position and foundation work too much.

one, they already said they wont make specs into support classes viva hero talents

two, why do we want ret to be support??? thats kinda silly

They won’t transform the role of a spec through the hero spec.

Those aren’t extensive enough to do a proper job at it, it would be bad.

However IF they do go down the road of a new support role (and I cannot stress enough how unlikely I think this is), I would imagine it would be supported by the addition of both a new class and new full fledged support specs for existing classes.

Chief amongst them (beside Aug) would be paladin and shamans, maybe monk.

DH only has 2 spec but I’d be hard pressed to find an angle for it.

Then priest could also be an option.
You could also make some more wild idea like a warrior as a commander, barking orders, placing standards and using range weapons.

My dmg in keys with Herald is just as good as Templar and better than Templar in raids, thanks to the buffs.

Then you are heavily misplaying Templar

Herald is still a large margin behind for me in raid and in keys
