Palace of the Dead and Torghast

Hey there Blizz, one thing I feel that should be pointed out…it’d be nice if you made content that didn’t become dated, and what you are doing with leveling going forward goes an extremely long way to doing that, great job!

One thing I am concerned about though is that Torghast is only for endgame content…if you want a piece of content that’s as great as FFXIV’s Palace of the Dead (very very similar) then you should probably think about the fact that PotD is endgame AND leveling content, so it also never becomes dated. Please don’t add something as cool as PotD to the game and then make it irrelevant in just 2 years. Repurpose it as leveling content and give incentives for players of the expansion after Shadowlands to play it and also make it an option for leveling players to use as an alternative to questing.

Shadowlands is looking great design-wise now that you are connecting the endgame and leveling game together, this is what makes people love FFXIV and why its additions in each patch feel more substantial…because they rarely become outdated and unused. WoW would benefit from this type of design more than any other game that has ever existed, it has an insane amount of content.

So when designing Torghast, perhaps removing the endgame exclusive idea and turning it into a method to level alts would be fantastic. Why not even let players do it at level 15 instead of dungeons for xp?

Just ask yourselves…why not!

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember reading that they plan to have it on a weekly lockout. If that’s true, it doesn’t seem like it would be very useful for leveling anyway.

That’s awful…what a disappointment.

Yeah, I was pretty bummed when I saw it being compared to Withered Training.

When they first announced it, I had hoped it would be something that was infinitely replayable (since the whole roguelike thing put me in the mind of Binding of Isaac), but apparently they have other intentions.

There’s still time for them to change or clarify things, though…so who knows.

Thanks for letting me know, I’ll remain cautiously optimistic!

Both Palace of the Dead, and its higher level successor Heaven on High, are amazing. They’re two fun alternate ways to level, but on top of that, those little bags you can get inside can offer some really neat items. I mean, nothing you can’t get elsewhere in the game usually (a few exceptions), but just a fun little treat for doing the dungeon.

You called my leige?

Well, good news. This isn’t ffxiv, this is WoW.

I understand that WoW is not FFXIV, but having more leveling options of many different flavors can never be a bad thing! Also having content that doesn’t become dated is always great for the game. Like having more bgs, more systems like transmog or the salon, pvp as a feature itself…all of those types of content do not become outdated, and by interweaving each piece of content into multiple purposes instead of just making it another endgame grind, a piece of content can become something that can’t be dated to a single expansion, but instead is a permanent upgrade to the game’s framework.

Having those type of additions is fantastic for the game’s design, as it makes an expansion improve what amounts to the base game instead of just a new shiny thing for one expansion that will become abandoned in two years…which would be a waste.

While I agree this game is not Final Fantasy XIV, it does seem like both games are borrowing elements from each other at times.

This thread is nearly a year old.

Da fudge?

Its still a relative statement, and I was looking for something and the tread popped up. I wasn’t looking at the date
