P4 needs to improve Caster DPS and current top DPS Melee - Excluding Warriors

The main hitting point of SoD is that all DPS should be viable and not just warriors. It is hard when Warriors seem to always be in the top for DPS and other classes are not. Last Phase it was Shamans Turn, P1 was Hunters. P3 is back to Hunters. Meanwhile, Warriors have always found a way to be above average all the time, even when they didn’t have all access to their kits. Now we have game mechanics of 100% bonus damage during execute phases and damn it, warriors are back up to their shenanigans as you basically buff their Execute phase to god level.

Lets get down to business, the way to resolve all these issues are to do simple changes:

  1. Buff SP to caster gear or maybe better, provide unique gear that favors buffing a type of damage like fire, nature, frost, or shadow. I miss the days of gear being for a type of spec and that should make a comeback instead of the all in one deal.

  2. DW is becoming an issue in Classic and we all know why, because the BiS were melee DW aka Rogue and Warriors in Classic. We need to make 2h users like Paladins and 2h Shamans better. Provide runes that promote 2h damage to move users back to how WoW classic had them. Shamans should want to be in the running for their only legendary weapon in classic they could use for Rag. Lets make 2h Shaman and Paladins better again. :wink:

  3. Lets change the way phases for damage boosts are done. Instead of a DPS check at the end, lets do it at the start. This way the DPS meters are not dominated by execute users, but instead focuses on using your DPS CD’s early and maybe have fights last long enough that we get 2 rounds of DPS meters so we do not end the dreams of the execute phase for pop off damage. After all, the game is meant to be fun above all else and who doesn’t like seeing their damage pop off.

Isnt pvp caster dominated still?

I mean, the game isn’t just about PvP. PvE is the primary focus of the game. You wont be able to balance classic PvP. Was never balanced, DoT users and rogues are just leagues above everyone else for 1v1 and we do not have AV for BGs.

No P4 needs to give Warriors fun runes like what every other class gets, instead of the boring ones for the past 3 phases.

I can agree Warriors need some fun runes.

I don’t know if you can stop Warrior’s my friend. Blizzard is reluctant to modify base classes due to it’s impact on Era. They generally only touch runes. Execute, Deathwish, Recklessness, Blood Fury/Berserking and how Rage Generation scales with increased damage are base class features. I don’t think they are going away.

To Blizzard’s first powerpoint presentation about SoD, you would have to bring other classes up to Warrior’s.

Did the 90% rockbiter nerf affect the Era client?
Did the cooldown reduction and debuff effect on Stormstrike affect Era?
Did Hunter pet scaling affect Era?

They nerfed Shamans by modifying Rock Bitter Weapon. That thing used to have hundreds of AP to it. now it has just has 100 AP. One of the largest nerfs since P1 hunter nerfs.

Correction: It’s like 30 AP without the enhancement talents, but the talents buff it to almost 100.

Touchay, I did forget about the direct nerf to Rockbiter. I guess they could do base ability changes if they wanted to do it! That would be a way to bring Warrior’s down.

That or nerf the damage stacking runes like flaggelation, wrecking crew, single minded fury and consumed by rage. For some reason Blizzard felt the need to give us those instead of some fun new abilities

Rank 6 gives 48 AP for Rockbitter. After talents, its basically 30 more AP so not even 100. Before the nerfs, it was like 400 AP each so we were using that. I think they need to accept no one likes Flametongue weapon on their OH and instead of focusing Enhancement to use FT, they should of slapped SP on it and we could of had the rebirth of Spell Enhance for Classic with a weapon enhancement that elemental could use and let Rockbitter be the tank as they made the p1 talent now work with a required shield.

Either way, the nerf is way to strong. that was a 400% nerf to the ability.

We dual wield with wizard oils. Takes up the same slot, lasts 30 minutes instead of 5 too.

We’re going to be at wrath levels by the time we get into ZG at this rate. They need to get a handle on dps and gear scaling.

I mean we are at Naxx level for Classic right now. 10 more levels and the gear will scale to Naxx40 man which we will be more like a lv 65 IMHO.

Either way, we will be fine as long as we can do the damage and tank the damage. I also think they will upgrade the HP of the bosses at lv 60 for the raids.

I’m not against Warriors getting more fun runes, but they got pretty damn good interactive runes in P1. Way better mobility, rage threshold mechanics, alternate use for utility cds etc.

If you want to see what bad unfun runes look like, take a look at balance druid. Hurricane is now on par with baseline Rain of Fire, buggy extend the duration of short Dots by 3-6s with a cap (unlike other equivalent refreshers), 50% in combat mana regen (still not enough), one of your occasionally cast fillers is free, yellow moonfire, Starsurge, and mechanic you are never going to deal with because your rotation is too crammed to fit in enough fillers.

So far they give us 2 baseline abilities, try to address our mana problems twice unsuccessfully, make our AoE slightly less mediocre, and then try and fix smashing our rotation into a 12s window with 6 compulsory GCDs (9s worth).

Ontop of that they still haven’t addressed being the only class without a baseline threat reduction or hit modifier, let alone other classes getting massive damage buffs. So P4 is set to maybe fix our problems but not give us anything for fun or throughput, OR leave us with glaring problems like trying to reach 17% spell hit through gear whilst doing 50% less damage and still pulling threat.

They’ve done it a bit, but only if you’re special.
Mostly for Shaman.
They got multiple direct baseline changes including Stormstrike cd reduced from 20s to 6s with massive mana reduction and the debuff lasting for the full duration instead of 1 instance of damage.

Hunter also received some including the addition of pet scaling as a baseline mechanic.

They just don’t do it enough in my opinion, and not in the right areas.

its simple, warriors scale way better than everyone else.

if a warrior has +300 str = +700 Melee AP ( +50.00 DPS ) • +17.50 to Block + 200 agi = +10.00% Crit • +10.00% Dodge • +400 Armor

the math is insane when you add deathwish, recklesness, on use trinkets, blood fury and more.

what do casters get?

shadow priests:

300 int: +4500 Mana • +5.07% Spell crit

mages:

300 int: +4500 Mana • +5.04% Spell crit

warlocks:

300 int: +4500 Mana • +4.95% Spell crit

balance druids:

300 int : +4500 Mana • +5.00% Spell crit

you see where im going with this, right? casters dont have multiple on use burst cds other than fire mages.

no matter what runes you give to casters, they wont scale like melees do. if you give casters 2 spell power for every intellect point things would be more “balanced”
