The new comments from Kennedy allege that Kotick is a significant reason for Overwatch 2’s prolonged development process, however. The sequel to the hero shooter was first announced back in late 2019, but has since been delayed multiple times, [pushed out of launching in 2021] (https://www.gamesradar.com/activision-says-diablo-4-and-overwatch-2-arent-releasing-in-2021/), and the subsequently [delayed out of releasing in 2022] (https://www.gamesradar.com/overwatch-2-and-diablo-4-pushed-out-of-2022-so-they-reach-their-full-potential/). Now, a firm release date for Overwatch 2 appears to be out of the question, and we’re simply awaiting further updates from Activision Blizzard.
Diablo 4 is suffering from the same fate
You read about executive celebrities leaving Blizzard Entertainment, but you never really hear about things like these
Jeffrey Kaplan was game director for WoW: Wrath of The Lich King AND Overwatch
You can’t just put in some random game director to replace this legendary talent and expect it to be the same world renown AAA title, that if it says Overwatch “2”, people are going to say finally, and then play it
If a game is getting delayed and stocks are dropping, blame yourself that Overwatch 1 content was a priority and then that overtime-worked content got cancelled
Don’t just fire the popular Blizzard Entertainment executives and think you can just move on to become Activision-Blizzard CEO for Xbox
You need to take a good look at yourself in the mirror and look at:
Starcraft 1: Remastered
It’s still got 50 second lag windows and no Starcraft 2 F2 key to access your entire army
Warcraft 3: Reforged
It didn’t have clans, ladders, chat rooms, or even the ability to whisper talk to another player, and still crashes games relentlessly (all of which were included and bug free in the ORIGINAL title), not to mention the campaign UI selection screen was trash
Ever since Blizzard Entertainment became Activision-Blizzard it lost its integrity, more so because there’s a price to be had on its $70 billion soul, like George Lucas selling himself out to Walt Disney for $5 billion with Star Wars
And now with Overwatch " 2 ", odds are that it’ll be further delayed with this Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard where the CEO feels he can just call the shots and say this game needs Master Chief and Conker and Banjo Kazooie
There’s an ongoing pattern here where you won’t take fault and look at yourself, especially with the workplace environment
At the recent and last Blizzcon Online Jay Allen Brack then CEO of Blizzard Entertainment said: “we messed up”; it’s not Blizzard Entertainment’s fault, as he’s now the former CEO and this goes all the way up the corporate ladder
Your options are stay on after the year 2023 when the business deal officially succeeds and embarrass yourself, or just leave out right
Or you can take the third option and do the video games proper justice
When you have prestige integrity becomes priceless pride
Had you created Game of Thrones 1-6 for HBO, then released season 7 (Starcraft 1 RM) and then the season 8 travesty that is WC3: RF), you’re making yourself out to be this winey Anakin Skywalker who blames Obi Wan Kenobi for holding him back, or that it’s everyone else’s fault but your own
You could have this Steam killing client that houses everything under the Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard name but alas, until you’re about the games you’ll never truly be about the money
Apple got to be a trillion-dollar company because of micro-LED iPads with M1 processors, and you won’t get there because of the equivalent of $5,000 monitor with a $1,000 plastic stand to mount the screen up
You have a fiduciary duty as CEO to go back and remake what was so tragically done wrong, only then will you have a great name
