I know this has been overdone and I have probably missed it while scouring the depths of the internet for the last few hours. I need clarification as to what “usable” means for the Achievements for Mount Collection.
In shift+P it shows I have 301 mounts. In the Achievement Tracking Pane it shows I only have 251 mounts usable by my DH. Now, I personally counted 301 mounts that I could mount up on if I were in the correct areas for the small amount that can only be used in 1) Water, 2) AQ (all the scarabs). So if I can mount up on 301 mounts given I’m in the correct element/zone - then why have I not been given the achievement for 300 mounts?
The only thing I can guess is that my DH is not currently exalted with the original horde factions (Orgrimmar/Undercity/Thunder Bluff/ Darkspear Trolls/ Pandarian/ Goblin/ Silvermoon City) - is that what could be keeping me from being given the achievement or is this yet another one of the issues that Blizzard has with Achievements?

Beside Mounts Owned is the number used by the achievement.
The achievement tracks usable mounts on a single character. Those 301 mounts in your mount panel are not all able to be used on your character and will include opposite faction mounts you cannot use which will inflate your count. The achievement tracker is correct. Now Blizzard codes certain mounts differently which can affect your total.
Some mounts do count towards the achievement even if you can’t use them such as Legion class mounts on all classes and the Honeyback Harvester even though it is alliance only. All Legion class hall mounts stack to inflate your count.
Class mounts unique to the Paladin, Death Knight and Demon Hunter also count but they do not stack. What this means in if your achievement track says 298 on any other class, log into a DK, DH or Pally and you should get the extra +2 to push you to 300.
Remember always use the achievement to track, it is correct. You can also use external websites such as Simple Armory to track most mounts that will increase your count on a single character
