Isn’t it true that if you get dc’d you don’t go to the back of the line?
Blizzard has previously stated that they have more realms ready to go, and will push them live as needed; they planned ahead for a demand for more servers.
I’ve actually seen people say that they do care; it might sound odd to you, and a lot of people, but there are those who care. Also, name-calling is uncalled for and doesn’t help promote a productive discourse.
I’d personally rather they start with a lower number of realms and add more as needed; I don’t want to end up on a dead realm after having put in a large amount of time and effort into my characters. I want Blizzard to think about the long-term longevity of the realms; if Blizzard ends up with some healthy realms but mostly dead or low population realms people will view Classic as a failure.
This was really well said. I was indeed on the bandwagon that most new players, or any young people, wouldn’t really enjoy this game. Your comment makes perfect sense though and I have to realize the impact WoW had on me way back when I was only 15. The social aspect of the game is indeed the best part. People are going to get addicted just like we all did back in the day.
They’re going to remove layering because, as Ion Hazzikostas said, sharding (and let’s face it, layering is a tweaked version of sharding) is antithetical to Classic; having two of the same world boss up on the same realm because of sharding/layering changes things a lot, and world bosses come in Phase 2, when they have committed to removing layering at the absolute latest.
Fascinating how clueless so many people seem to be about things, even when they have repeated them many times before, and even addressed them within the same topic they are replying too…
Many bring up the wanting to be on a lasting server topic but ignore miss/ignore the fact that they said the servers are literally packed even at medium for example… Just move to a medium or high population server instead. Simple.
Talks about layering being here I noticed a time or two, yet they literally say it will be removed constantly and even in the topic here…
Just so much missed beyond even just these. Love to read it, and see them make themselves look silly while trying to talk down like they are clever/wise. XD
Say that after having to wait thru 3 hour ques,(longer when they merge layers before phase 2).
Im not that worried because all the people that get sick of it will start to funnel to another server that isnt as populated.
Blizzard provided the solution. It is now up to players to quit whining and utilize the solution.
Except that is what everyone did and thus the problem we have.
Like I said earlier had they used original server names classic illidan etc, migration would have been smoother and less chaotic, people would have migrated to the classic name of their current server
This is my reasoning. I really hate the other PvP realm names. I know its just a server name, but for whatever reason I do not want to play one a stupidly named server.
Maybe at first, but it will have the opposite funnel over time as Herod grows in population, power.
It’s like a planet’s gravity; once a pvp server is deemed THE server, it’s impossible to change that. It will just swallow up players from other realms over time.
The longer the queues for the first few months; the more security that that particular realm will have a healthy and vibrant population down the road.
After 2 years, i’ll see you on Herod too!
Pull out!! It’s a trap!!
I understood every bit of your post with one exception. What is FOMO? But yes I agree, we are partially to blame for dog piling all onto one server but as many others have pointed out, Faerlina was where all the streamers rolled, and Thalnos was taken over by everyone from South America since they didn’t get their own server. (Blizzard’s fault not ours) Herod was the only other logical choice left. If Blizzard had made 4 PvP realms instead of 3 from the beginning this all could have been avoided. Or at the very least gave us 24 hour notice when Stalagg was set to be opened to allow players/guilds time to coordinate and reroll accordingly. The players are not solely to blame here. The majority of this problem Blizzard created by dropping the ball on PvP servers, and then realizing their mistake and making a new server but failing to give adequate notice. And THEN expecting everyone to move with no guarantee of keeping their character names. 90% of this is ALL on Blizzard not us
they didn’t even raise the character creation limit up by 1-2, so even if players wanted to roll on Stalagg… they’d have to erase their good names on Herod to roll the dice and MAYBE get it on Stalagg. Why risk that?
Not worth the risk to me.
Im not so sure about that, but we will see.
maybe when more name slots open up when it goes live people who are not having to coordinate servers with guilds will be able to jump off if they manage to get their name. but yes, not many people are going to risk their names. they got the names reserved well in advance.
I believe, it is more about when activities happen on a server(raiding, dungeons, guilds etc). Many individuals might not be able to take part in the activities, due to the difference in time.
I paid good money to sub and create a name I didn’t want on that overcrowded 10,000 queue server. It’s Blizzards problem now, not mine, lol. Their lazy greedy asses can solve it.
