So i got a myth track overclocked gear a-rang launcher last great vault, and the quest Machine Without Cogs suddenly is tagged completed, and when i turn it in suddenly my myth track overclocked gear a-rang launcher is gone/ dissapeared… is this intended? and if so can i get back my overclocked gear a-rang launcher?
Also i checked the item restoration web page and it doesn’t show any overclocked gear a-rang launcher…
As far as I can tell, you gave the trinket to turn in the quest in. I see nothing in any of the available information that there’s any kind of automated turn-in; WowHead even indicates there’s a chunk of turn-in dialog, which is never the case for self-completing quests.
I would really doubt there’s any way to get the trinket back, since quest completion is tied to its absence and there’s no way to undo the quest completion.
iirc there’s no warning that your trinket is GONE GONE when turning in the quest, they just say hey after this there’s a new trinket you got to look for…
so basically after all the m+10 i did last week, my myth track trinket is gone since there is no warning when turning in the quest that your trinket is going to be "eaten"by quest completion? isn’t this i dunno… a bad quest completion design?..
This isn’t the first time raid or instance drops of any quality were used as quest run-ins.
I assume the developers expected players understood they were turning over a piece of loot (or multiple pieces of loot, in the earlier cases) to gain a mount, since that’s exactly what the quest text says.
This must be incredibly frustrating, especially as this quest is account-wide once you have it. I don’t understand how it auto-completed though. When I did this I had to go hand the item in to the npc manually. Is it possible you saw a question marker and handed it in without realizing?
I suspect this is what happened. Since subsequent comments complained about inadequate warnings, which wouldn’t be a factor if the turn-in somehow happened without player agency or consent.
I can’t address whether turn-in warning for this was arguably adequate, since I haven’t seen it. The Dragonflight examples I linked had a red-letter warning you were giving up the gear as if they were mere quest items, if I recall correctly, and yet there were a lot of forum complaints from people who didn’t realize what was happening.

Most probably yes, since it was late at night i was turning in the rep coffer and saw a ? and decided to turn it in without much thoughts. And also there is no red warning text and stuff while turning it in since it should be VERY noticeable…
And no there is no red warning signs iirc… which is weird as you said there is one in DF but none here?..
I don’t know anything specific about this quest, since I haven’t had the opportunity to do it. And I’m working from fairly dubious old-dude memory of the DF precedents for this.
I do remember that there were still a lot of players who were caught by surprise by the outcome. So, similar to this.
Also i checked the wowhead comments for this quest and i’m not the only one who is blindsided by this quest turn in and our trinkets got “eaten”…And he didn’t mention any red warning reminder for turning in his quest too
