Outlaw rogue tips

Usually play sub rogue and have no problem do 4k + in mythics switching to outlaw to not just have one specialization down. only doing around 3k wondering what i can do to better my dps or tips on what i may be doing wrong

Get more haste. Get to at least 400. Also MFD is a god send, I have no idea how people play without it on any rogue spec. Celerity legendary.

Been running some random BGs and leveling stuff, damage has been insane. This doesn’t speak to rated or endgame pve of course but just thought I’d share. MFD is a must, 5 free combo points in your back pocket on demand. I typically Cheap Shot > Roll of Bones > Blade Rush > get my natural 5 real quick > SnD > natural 5 > Kidney Shot (by the time they’re out of cheap or shortly thereafter) > MFD > Nut Nut Nut > Adrenaline Rush if need be.

Losing damage by using kidney shot.

If it’s a trash pull I usually

  • RTB before pull
  • Ambush
  • SnD
  • Blade flurry
  • Blade rush (causes blade furry to do more damage and is a nice energy regen)
  • adrenaline rush
  • sinister strike to 5 cp (I play ds)
  • BTE
  • dispatch at 5 CP unless I need to refresh something

I think a common mistake is people do not use adrenaline rush on CD. It comes up so fast and anytime it is not on CD you are loosing huge restless blades value.

I am also trying to figure out, but over capping on combo point generators/pistol shot procs, when to 4 combo vs 5 combo point evis, and when to reroll the bones. I’ve seen some guides, but they say one way over the other. Not sure if anyone wants to chime in on this part.

Honestly, I find outlaw to be very smooth, and you don’t have to overthink it too much to do solid overall damage.

Reroll the bones if you have a crappy buff from it when it comes off cooldown. Save it until your good buff/buffs drop. I have my UI set up that it doesn’t even show the crappy ones. Only the 3 good ones even show up as active for me, so I know if a buff isn’t there when it’s off cooldown, it’s time to roll.

But basically as outlaw, you just do what Snoz said, along with what I just said, and you’re going to be fine.

This cannot be stated enough.

USE YOUR COOLDOWNS.

Restless Blades is incredibly powerful and will have Adrenaline Rush up very frequently.

There is also an add-on called X-Roll that I utilize that makes a very loud “C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER” noise when you hit good rolls that shouldn’t be re-rolled.

You can customize it to utilize the sound or not have any sound, and also what buffs it should play on.

Also if you had any logs you could post so I could analyze them for you that would be a great help.

If you have Celerity crafted, you should be using vanish quite often for the ambush to try and gain more RtB procs.

Use a WA to manage your BF uptime so you don’t waste time clipping it when there is still time left remaining, etc.

I have also found using sharpened/blunted weapon stones to be superior to oils in M+ and even in raid under certain circumstances.

Ty I’ll try the MfD and getting my haste up then I’ll post some logs so can fix really want to be well rounded since rogue is my favorite class to play need to learn all specs of it

Are you sure about the blade rush interaction? I always read it as it increases the damage of the blade rush non active target damage by 100% as long as blade flurry was up, not that it causes blade flurry to do more damage during the duration (unless you were just generically speaking and it wasnt worded fully, not fleshing out the actual ability interaction).

Using Rush during Flurry just makes Rush do full damage to all the mobs rather than reduced. Their post in general is pretty wrong considering they’re not using BTE which you want to have as high of an uptime as possible with and you always finish at 6 CP with DS unless you have broadsides or a pistol shot proc in which case you finish at 5. In M+ you either already have snd rolling or you have leftover CP to spend on snd before you go into another pack too.

@OP Just go to the rogue discord and you can find most of your answers there. You’re just going to get useless or wrong information on the forums.

Why is Vigor advised against? I find myself both dealing less DPS without it, and everything feels very clunky since I’m often energy starved.

Looks like you have about 281 haste. Think recommended minimum is somewhere around 400. Always sim yourself for best results. Personally I find MfD, even without perfect hp sniping, gives me more consistent damage than vigor. I’m not energy starved often due to celerity procs and restless blades.

This is my PvP gear, I do have more haste otherwise.

Guess I’ll have to try again but so far it felt very clunky.

I don’t have the Celerity legendary either so I guess that’s holding me back. I get around 3.5-3.9k DPS without it right now.

Potentially the best rotation I’ve ever seen on these forums.

I also didnt include RTB because I assumed it was implied.

The sims are not lightyears apart from each other on that row. For a dungeon slice, MfD pulls ahead by a decent amount, but that assumes perfect play of it, so it’s going to sim higher than practice 99% of the time.

I play vigor because it feels better to me than the other 2. I’d say that unless you personally have noticed a huge difference between talents on that row, play what you like.

Now, if the difference was as wide as blade flurry is compared to the other talents on that row, then it would be more important to figure out how to make it work for you.

So finally got warcraft logs up and running now planning on doing mythic 8-10. Hoping with some tips and practice can finish 15s in time for the mount. Whole reason switched from sub to outlaw
