Just hit 120, been doing outlaw the entire time. Is assassination any good?
For Uldir, outlaw is king on 4/8 fights, with the others split sin/sub. Sub is especially useful for orb on Ghuun or progression on Zul or short burst fights like Fetid or Mother. Sin is strong for short cleave (Vectis) or fights where you may encounter uptime problems (also fetid, taloc). Outlaw has good aoe and burst cooldowns, so excels at fights where one or both of those can be used (Ghuun, Mother, Zek, Mythrax).
For Mythic, things are pretty even but everyone has their niche. Sub kills priority targets on trash the best and is likely going to win on a boss with no uptime issues. Assassin does significantly more aoe than the others on high health trash, and has better dps on bosses where you can't maintain uptime (barrel boss in tol dagor, t-rex spider boss of atal). Outlaw is in the middle, with moderate aoe and boss damage between sub and sin. Assassin tends to be the preferred choice since it's niche solves harder problems.
Assassin for PvP post sub nerf. Dots shine when someone is trying to kite you or restealth.

Play sub or u have no ballz. It’s actually not as bad as people are saying. However it is getting another huge nerf in 8.1

Appreciate you good sir
Assassination is the best overall IMO. Combat is decent. Subtlety is a little too niche.
Outlaw all the way, sin and sub rogues are jealous because outlaw made off with all the utility like the bandit we are!
Play and learn both.
!@# is better on ST fights, outlaw on AoE fights.

imo outlaw
- gouge
- 8 yard melee range
- stronger crimson vial
- disarm
- vanish on shorter cd
-buffs for team mates
- ranged stun that cant be dodged
etc

Outlaw is neat if you like to grapple around like a madman. On raid bosses (end-game content), assassination definitely seems superior. The AoE once you learn how to do it isn't half bad either... if you are concerned about trash on the way to the bosses.
Maybe it’s just me but I see this pirate stuff and i can’t help but to wonder why anyone wants combat to be a pvp spec. Literally i am still seeing the stun after trinket killing spree combo that was being used after killing spree was introduced. Every time i see it i think, “ you are playing combat with an attached slot machine buff system.” It still has the combat in PvP stigma for me because it is still too close to combat mechanically
