i have been outlaw since legion, i enjoy the playstyle, and i never want to give up my gun. that being said outlaw is in an unacceptable state on all fronts.
i am pve and pvp geared already (as much as we can be on day 3), 638 iLvl and 669 iLvl respectively. In pvp my damage is just non existent, not even breaking through a priests shield after wailing on it for 15 seconds makes me feel like such a joke, getting peeled so much more without shadowstep since grappling hook is still rocking a 50%+ fail rate and is miserable trying to be accurate with in the heat of battle. I go hard with my stupid piano rotation, Iām doing everything i am suppose to be, and there isnāt a single ability that does any real threatening damage. Playing aggressive just to see how much damage I can actually pump and by the end of BGs I am lucky to break 100 mil. Usually toward the bottom with the healers. Limited defensives keep me alive for an extra 10 seconds or so and then Iām just pants down getting wrecked by every hit and dot while swinging wet noodles. Outlaw shouldnāt be relegated to only playing defensively (especially since vanish is an offensive ability now), I should be able to fight in the fray and have sustained survivability that doesnāt just involve running away and waiting to be useful again. Put cloak on the restless blades table for starters, and maybe even crimson vial at a cap of a 1 sec reduction per 5pt+ finisher.
I 1v1ed a warlock clearly less geared (8mil HP vs my almost 11mil). I get the jump, I had full RtB buffs, adrenaline rush, got 5 6-pt+ BtEs with kidney shot in the opener. Shield doesnāt even break. Yet im already down half HP. What is happening?? I know my class. Iām not the best, but I am competent and know how my toolkit works so to chalk it up to a skill issue feels unfair to the amount of xp i have playing this spec. This is just a bad time to be outlaw.
In PvE I just cant stay competitive, Iām breaking my wrist to keep the rotation going just to do enough damage to not be kicked from raids and I look at the dps of other classes and it feels so effortless for them to do so much more since its usually concentrated in 2 or 3 abilities. Definitely cant touch anywhere near the top. Throw in endless visually cluttering mechanics that add an insane amount of melee dps downtime (can i please just have my extra 3 yards back), I feel completely useless. Buff sinister strike to actually do something worth the energy cost, and completely rework main gauche so that getting mastery gear 90% of the time feels justified. On top of that, the thistle tea auto use is punitive and pointless, why take away energy control like that? what purpose does it serve? of all the button bloat to alleviate why take that one??? At least add a toggle, I donāt understand the logic to this forced change at all.
anyways fix this spec, make it so I donāt hate my life trying to do anything as outlaw. I can do high tier delves at least, got that sweet solo content going for me I guess.

Yeah, Thistle Tea definitely needs a rework. Itās affecting Assassination too.

Give Trickster instead of fatebound a try in pvp. Wonāt address the problems youāve mentioned but it seems to be doing a little better at least.
Tbh, Iām enjoying Trickster KiR in PvE too.
The damage in PvP definitely feels like itās taken a hit, but even last season I found myself pretty low on damage done compared to other classes. Youāll get noticeably more success if you see yourself as a dampening spec which keeps everyone locked down as opposed to trying to top the meters and burst everyone down anyway though.
My damage is sometimes half the other DPS but other team still certainly hates me.
Edit: Damage in PvE isnāt too shabby though, thereās definitely some room for improvement there if you consistently find yourself low on the meters. But yeah PvP feels like it might just be a bit garbo atm.

I used to like Outlaw back in likeā¦ Legion.
But these days itās overly complicated, harder to execute, and gives less results than say Assassination. Personally I donāt really care for the pirate theme either. I miss old Combat.
Either way, Outlaw needs a serious rework imo. Whenever itās tuned to have good damage it actually does well on the high-end in pvp due to its overloaded kit. But overall the spec could use a rework / simplification and combine or get rid of some abilities.
If they could make it work a little better Iād love to play a swords rogue again.

In complete honesty, like Ret Paladin, before the āUnderminedā content update both were performing perfectly fine. Now? Itā can be a little too rough. Theyāre the only two classes Iāve played out in TWW thus far and they were both ninja butchered at patch launch.
Theyāve fixed Ret Paladin; In comparison to how other classes as a whole āflowā thereās a bit of a struggle with Outlaw. The random element is fun but I think it deserves to be a little harder hitting or endure more grit overall.

Trickster is more consistent which means it is more fun. Fix Kspree and people might play Trickster over Fatebound.

rogue, especially outlaw, felt a lot nicer when vanish wasnt a dps cooldown for every spec

I dearly miss the old killing spree button. I pressed it and watched my char spaz out like a toddler that just had some pixie stixx and used the time to scratch my noise before returning to the piano session.

I feel that, i have mained combat/outlaw since TBC,
Through the fire and flames, Outlaw remains.
Before Latest patch i felt law was in a decent place(less bugs). After undermine patch the spec felt off, under tuned in terms of damage. Donāt get me wrong the damage is decent but you have to play very aggressively with minimum errors to pump Some numbers(With RnG Rolls Ofc). With the buff to Sleight of Hand and how the rolls are looking with 4 piece bonus we might be sitting good for a bit( hopefully), But that would make 4piece tier a requirement if you wanna compete and not gimp yourself.
The Most noticeable thing to outlaw after patch was Grappling hook! Immediately noticed the limitation on available hooking points, You could no longer Grappling hook onto any houses or Structure(including fences light post etc). When you can Grappling Hook, you have a 70% chance of getting a successful Cast off without it going on Cooldown, In Open World Grappling Hook is useless Most of the time unless you are in an open area where nothing is obstructing your view/ Structures making āNo Path Availableā.

Old Kspree was great using it when low on energy and did not cost combo points . New Kspree requiring combo points, haste break points, and is an energy hog is just not right lol.
