It is pretty fun and a great way to see things again! It felt a little like when I could fly for the first time around the old world in Cata.
I binged the Outland Cup today and had a lot of fun with it. I am still disappointed that we did not get the removed Netherwing scale colors with it, though.
I like the colors on the Outlandish set a lot better than the EK/Kalimdor one though.
I really hope the Northrend cup with give us a nice blue set with dark leather <3
Yeah 100%. I’m already using the set on my goblin warlock.
Definitely got my tabard and title yesterday.
The scarves are both new, you didn’t miss anything. Buy them both this event.
Not being mean, but if you’re not hitting gold then you’re not doing it perfectly.
There were some cheeky gates on some of the races (shattrath tunnel, the blinding domes, the tiny tunnel in the ruins of a wall in shadow moon valley)
But the timers aren’t much of an issue.
I would suggest looking for more opportunities to use ascend over surge forward. Point for Point ascend gives you more acceleration and a longer boost. Some races also give a ridiculous amount of vigor, so you may need to be spamming moves.
I’ve been using ascend and following video guides and still cant make it, and honestly 30 damn attempts at it (not counting failed wall hits etc) and nada, and not to sound mean, but looking at achieves most ppl here don’t even have the bronze let alone gold Outland race achieve done.
If you have not already, best to download a speedometer WA for dragonflying. It’s almost esse to know just how fast you are at certain point of the races and from there u improve on ur flying and boosting techniques in order to capitalize.
If they don’t have bronze then they probably haven’t got around to it yet.
I do all my races on my mecha gnome priest, and I was beating basic gold races by 10-20 sec and generally beating advanced and reverse golds by 5-10.
The weak auras or whatever add-ons are very helpful for tracking speed if you haven’t got one yet. I highly recommend using one and practising chaining ascends to maintain 1100-1450% speed.
I don’t see how Auchindoun coaster advanced or reverse is even possible in 70 seconds.
Revisiting Nagrand was fun, it was my favorite zone in BC. And Netherstorm, that was where I first hit level cap.
Agreed these are a blast and I love seeing these old zones that I never got to play through. The eco domes were honestly amazing, I would’ve loved TBC when I was younger haha.
I’ve been making my own courses in the old world just for fun honestly. The terrain is not designed for it but it makes it more challenging/fun.
I hated the Netherstorm Eco-Dome one and the Hellfire Thorn one.
I despise not being able to see where the next ring is.
Yea iv seen the pics it looks cool, but im not gonna grind them out
It’s not that hard to get gold in all of them. For some of the corner rings you only need to touch the edge of them vs flying through them, as for the others using the skyward ascent trick is the only way to get enough speed for certain sections. Also do not immediately drain all of your vigor getting speed initially, the courses do punish you for that.
Also would highly recommend the “dragon rider” addon for a speedometer. It helps you know when you need to boost your speed.
This was the first racing event where I beat my friend to getting gold in all three categories. Suck it Riddler.
The brambles race can die in a fire, but the rest were pretty good.
I disagree — I’ve definitely made a few mistakes on some races, but I still hit gold even with those mistakes!
I think the Outland Cup is pretty close to that “sweet spot” — it’s challenging, but not unforgivingably so. I certainly found it easier than the Eastern Kingdom Cup (and that one, I found it to be easier than the Kalimdor Cup).
I know people are going to hate this, but… practice! Practice. Practice doing all sorts of races in between the Cups. Practice easy and hard races.
It’s really all about practice.
I think there’s a misunderstanding?
He said he was doing them perfectly but not achieving gold. Since gold is achievable, if he isn’t getting it then it’s not perfect.
All the rest still applies, though. Speed addons, ascend chaining, practice
Some of them are extremely brutal on the reverse course timer, I’ve only done 3 so far, and Shadowmoon Slam? A breeze until the reverse course. It took me probably 20 minutes to get gold. At one point I got the time of 63.062, I wanted to scream. After that less than a second too late time, it still took me 8 minutes to get gold. I remember a few being like that with the other cups too.
