(( OUTDATED! )) [N-RP] <(The) Kui Zhang Society> Cross-Faction Pandaren Guild

THIS INFORMATION IS CURRENTLY OUT-OF-DATE!

“The Kui Zhang Society, also known as the Blazing Paw Clan, is a loose conglomerate of Pandaren hailing from both Shen-zin Su and mainland Pandaria that seeks to act as a resource for newly-expatriated Isle Pandaren as well as a sanctuary for their people to escape from the faction warfare between the Alliance and Horde. Founded initially by the brazen Huojin warrior known as Chentao Bronzefur, they find purpose in aiding others and Azeroth at large whilst securing their own welfare and sovereignty in a tumultuous world.”

Introduction:

There comes a time in most Pandaren lives that one must come to terms with their wanderlust and curiosity of the world once thought forever lost, be it to satisfy a desire to help others, see sights that one’s ancestors would envy to set eyes upon, or just to sample exotic foods and brews! Having been disconnected from the rest of Azeroth for so long, though, few are of the means and knowledge of these faraway cultures to adapt seamlessly; while this may suit and indeed be a part of life’s journey for some, it is a matter of peril–or even compromising of personal values–for others.

As members of the Kui Zhang Society came to realize this, the once unwaveringly Huojin-aligned clan began to welcome in more helping paws from both the mainland and Shen-zin Su to extend them to the displaced wanderers and refugees of their people, regardless of ideals. Though less similar minds began to fill their ranks, the Society’s initial goal since setting foot from the Great Turtle remained the same: fighting for and sheltering those they love, uncovering the secrets of the world, and playing a humble part for the betterment of all of Azeroth in their own distinctive way.

Ranks:

OOC/Uninitiated: These are characters that have either yet to be introduced into the clan or are simply alts of a person that is. This should not be a common role.

Ally: Also a yet-to-be-initiated character, although they have demonstrated themselves relevant to the clan and/or its cause in some way already.

Initiate: A newly-recognized member of Kui Zhang. These characters are formally acknowledged as being within the society, though they’ve yet to solidify themselves through distinction and familiarity with other members.

Kin: Associates of Kui Zhang that have proven themselves dedicated and invaluable to the clan’s efforts. These are trusted individuals renown for their deeds in service of the society’s aims.

Matron/Patron: These are the informal, acting leaders of the Society. They play a mostly diplomatic role within the clan and out, offering counsel or taking charge on the rare decisions that affect Kui Zhang as a whole. All Matrons/Patrons are considered to be fairly equal in terms of influence and authority, though their rank should also denote whether they are OOCly an Officer (O) or the Guild Master (GM). These notes are strictly OOC; all Matrons/Patrons technically share leadership of Kui Zhang ICly.

Recruitment:

As we seek to keep our numbers few but strong, there are several key characteristics in both player and character that we favor:

MAJOR UPDATE! Kui Zhang will now recruit non-Pandaren into its ranks so long as they prove themselves to align with its causes and are not, in any known way, involved in faction disputes.

• A courteous adherence to established lore and an understanding that, in cases of public roleplay, requesting of others to accept matters not confirmed canon is not acceptable. A character’s race, vocation, and such should all be evident and practiced in the current Warcraft universe, or at the very least be implied to exist (within reason, typically determined by the discretion of senior members).

• Possessing a reputation for good conduct, both in roleplay and out. Known griefers and agitators are not likely to be permitted to join.

• Displaying a sensible purpose for being part of the Society. We accept Tushui, Huojin, Alliance, Horde, Shado-Pan, Golden Lotus… anyone that aligns with the cause; however, if your character’s previous or current position conflicts with the aims of the clan, what justifications can you provide for them? Did they leave one of the warring factions, or are they acting from within? Are they an active member, an ally, or a potential resource?

• Perhaps most importantly, keeping your character’s profile and IC conduct youth-friendly in public settings. We will not enforce what you roleplay with other consenting individuals, but exposing others–no matter their age–to inappropriate conduct without their express permission is absolutely NOT tolerated.

(Note: WE DO NOT ACTIVELY RECRUIT! Members are invited on a case-by-case basis. This is to ensure both an organic integration into the guild and that our recruiting members are not overtasked.)

Which servers/factions is Kui Zhang located?:

Currently, we are available on both playable factions and only on Wyrmrest Accord (US).

What all does Kui Zhang do?:

If it’s in World of Warcraft, then we’re probably doing it! The central purpose is acting as a close-knit and welcoming roleplaying guild for Pandaren enthusiasts. Outside of that, if you like to PvE, PvP, collect appearances, hunt achievements, capture pets, or whatever else, you’re sure to find friends with us that are happy to assist or join in on the experience!

How active is the guild in terms of roleplay?:

This is difficult to answer definitively, but it is something we all wonder when first looking into a guild. We do not host weekly or monthly events. We have no formal obligations, IC or OOC, on in-game activity. We may have a month bustling with activity, then another without even a single event. We aim to provide the atmosphere and potential for these events and happily endorse creativity within the guild, be it spontaneous or planned!

Who do I speak to about joining?:

Contact me in-game on the characters Xiang (Alliance) or Fist (Horde), or any players already associated. Typing “/who Kui Zhang” on either faction should also suffice. If no characters are present, feel free to send OOC in-game mail asking to speak to me on either of the characters listed above!

For more information, feel free to post here and I or another member will address your questions or concerns. Thank you for checking us out and we hope to see you in the World… of Warcraft!

I love the idea of the guild! I don’t have the time for alts I used to, or else I’d totally chuck my Panda mage in. But good luck you guys - I love seeing crossfaction guilds and this one looks and sounds neat!

I have been in this guild since I started my Pandaren character (just before BfA came out). We absolutely are more of a family feel and the atmosphere is amazing and non stressful. We all care for each other both ICly and OOC. It’s just an amazing guild to be apart of!

Chentao is a solid dude and I’d personally vouch for him and this guild. Ya’ll keep at it.

Thanks for all the comments, folks! Despite the lack of activity in general, I like to think we’ve been fairly active. I’ve mostly been working on alts, so if no one appears to be online in the guild, that’s probably where I am. I check in here pretty often, though!

I definitely would like to join into the guild when I return from my rp break/hiatus. :>

We had a blast of a casual tavern RP event the other day! And this is where I’d post pics of it…

IF I HAD PERMISSION TO!

Pretend there’s a Fairly OddParents meme here.

Love the guild name!

Kui Zhang have visited the teahouse & I have interacted with them IC in other settings as well. Consistently enjoyable. Heart-felt dedication to genuine roleplay & making sure those they play with have fun as well.

Even though I’m all guilded up I can still heartily recommend them to all Pandaren looking for people to rp with.

Thank you for the kind words Kunbo.

Also if you’re new to Pandaren RP or RP in general, we would love to help you out and teach you.

Thank you all for the positive notes. I did want to mention we’re keeping things fairly insular and casual for the time being, mostly to be conservative with our guild’s purpose due to how unpredictably the current plot is playing out. That said, it’s still been a good time thus far! When yours truly isn’t being a metaphorical geezer and sleeping super early in server time…

I am Binglong, and I approve this message with a bump.

Belly bumps.

We’re doing some spontaneous social RP at the Wanderer’s Festival tonight, if anyone is interested in getting acquainted! Potions can be provided on both factions.

I have long had a concept for a world-traveling travel writer Pandaren named Fangméi Guān (关芳梅). I am intrigued, and shall have to ponder this.

Sounds like a fun concept! I hope to see you out there!

That seems like an appropriate name for a travel writer. And like an ideal profession for a Pandaren with wanderlust & lorewalking in their soul.

The family name 关(Guān) meaning “Frontier Pass” was chosen because of her home in Binan Village, indicating in older times of her family being the people in the nearby mountain pass. I had written up some stuff for her a while back when I was brainstorming her concept:

WHERE WAS ___ BORN & RAISED?
Binan Village, in the shadow of Kun-Lai in the Autumn Plains.

BACKSTORY
"I grew up in a place that nobody would think of as exceptional, or interesting. It was a small village in the unforgiving plateau, kept in shadow by Kun-Lai. We were all a simple folk there. Our homes were not decorated nor painted, and our notion of fun was going to the Yak Wash.

But I will tell you that yes, it was indeed exceptional. From my home on the shore, I could see the spires of the Jade Forest reaching up above the edge of the cliffs opposite the mere. Across the Autumn Plain arose Kun-Lai, its top calling forth all sorts of explorer yet remaining seemingly unreachable. And from the Yak Wash, which my parents took me to often because I loved the view, I could see across the gorge to Honeydew Village below, full of its colourful houses and lush vegetation. And also from there the mists, to which I’d look out to and watch for Shen-zin Su. Travelers seeking adventure would stop at my family’s inn on their trek to conquer Kun-Lai, sharing stories of so many interesting places, people, and foods.

I grew up in a place that was simple and boring at face-value, but surrounded by everything interesting and beautiful just off on the horizon. It instilled in me a desire to see all of these places closer and explore them, and the wanderlust has never waned in me since."

I know this is a bit late, but I wanted to let recent events settle a bit before giving an update on KZ’s status. As of now, we’re simply enjoying the respite from the faction warfare, collecting ourselves, and enjoying some “slice of life” RP for the most part! After we have more news on what’s to come, we’ll focus at tastefully aligning our interests in a manner to remain relevant with WoW’s main plot without compromising the Society’s interests.

Remain strong, pandas.
